A CIS unit is installed in the machine. Therefore, both-sided simultaneous reading can be selected in addition to the conventional reversal both-sided reading.
In the reversal both-sided reading, the document is reversed in the machine and the CCD unit installed in the reader assembly reads its both sides.
In the both-sided simultaneous reading, the document is fed only once in the machine. The CCD unit reads its first side, and the CIS unit reads its second side at
the same time.

2.3.1 Overview
0015-6853
The machine possesses the following 2 modes of operation to suit different printing modes:
Presence/absence checks the presence/absence of an original in the original pickup tray. document detecting
of original sensor (PI5)
Feed direction The length is detected by turning on/off the post-separation sensor when turning on the read sensor. post-separation sensor

If the originals are of different configurations or are of extra length, the following 3 detection mechanisms are used:
T-2-5
checks the checks the presence/absence of an original in the original pickup tray. document detecting

an original in the
original pickup tray.
Original presence/absence
Cross-feed checks the width of the original placed in the original pickup tray. original width volume
direction (VR)
Feed direction checks the length of the original with reference to the time (distance) from when the read sensor goes on to when it read sensor (PCB3)
goes off.
The machine uses the original detection sensor (PI5) to check the presence/absence of an original in the original tray.
When an original is placed on the tray, the detecting lever operates in conjunction with the light-blocking plate, during which the light-blocking plate blocks the
light of the photo interrupter. As a result, the original detection sensor (PI5) generates the original detection signal (EMP_S), which will cause the DADF controller
PCB to turn on the original placement indicator.
PI5 LED
F-2-4
A. Normal Printing
The machine identifies the size of an original with reference to combinations of the size (width, length) detected on the original tray and the size (length) detected
while the original is being moved.
a. Detecting the Size of the Original in Feed Direction
When an original is placed on the original tray, the light-blocking plate operates in keeping with the detecting lever of the LGL/LTR detecting sensor (PI4) to block
the light of the photo interrupter. The machine identifies whether or not the original is LGL with reference to the LGL/LTR detecting sensor signal (LG_S) and the
width of the original. The machine communicates the original size information to the host machine as soon as the Start key is pressed.

PI4
F-2-5
The machine detects the size of an original in feed direction with reference to the state of the post-separation sensor (PCB2) after the read sensor (PCB3) has gone
off and the state of the LGL/LTR detecting sensor (PI4) on the tray.
The machine measures the length of the time from when the read sensor goes on to when it goes off to find out the length of the original; it then uses the result of
the measurement and the result of detection made on the original tray to identify the size of the original.

This machine has a CIS glass on the undersurface of the CIS unit.
A standard white plate is attached to this glass for correction of shading and dirt detection.
The DADF controller drives M6 when necessary and moves the CIS glass.
By executing such procedure, the DADF controller compares reflection data of the standard white plate position with that of the image scanning position, and ex-
ecutes the above-mentioned correction.
The following shows the timing of the CIS glass move.

Lines may appear on image because of dust or dirt attached on the surface of the CIS glass when scanning the 2nd side of the 2-sided printing with this machine.
To prevent it, the dust detection correction function is equipped.
With this function, the DC controller shifts the CIS glass to the scanning position at the specified timing (see Note 1). Then, the CIS unit detects the degree of soil
on the scanning side.
If dirt is detected at a scanning point (see Note 2), the CIS unit moves to the next point where is not soiled so that prevent faulty image.
There are 3 scanning points, and the detection is executed in the order indicated below. If dirt is detected at the first point, the glass moves to the next point and
scan the 2nd side.
If dirt is detected at all scanning points, the user message urging the cleaning of the scanning glass is indicated. (The DF operation is available while the message
is indicated.)

2.4.1 JAM
0015-6875
The machine checks for an original jam using the sensors shown in the figure. The timing at which a check is made is programmed in the ROM on the DADF
controller PCB, and the presence/absence of a jam is identified in terms of whether there is paper over a particular sensor.
when it detects a jam, it communicates the fact to its host machine using a code, which may be checked in the host machine's service mode.

4.5 Variable Resistors (VR), Light-Emitting Diodes (LED), and Check Pins by PCB
4.5.1 Overview
0015-7044
Of the LEDs and check pins used in the machine, those needed for servicing the machine in the field are discussed.
Do not touch the check pins not indicated in the list. They are intended for use at the factory, and require special tools and high accuracy.
Some LEDs emit dim light even when they area off. The is a normal condition, and must be kept in mind.

5.1.1 Overview
0015-7054
The CPU of the machine's ADF controller PCB is equipped with a function to monitor the state of the machine, flashing the Original Placement indicator when it
finds a fault in the course of a check it runs as programmed. The machine communicates the presence of a fault to its host machine in the form of a code, which is
any of the following 3 types; check the Original Placement indicator to find out the nature of a fault:
T-5-1
In addition, you may also use the host machine's service mode for a specific code for an alarm or jam; an error, on the other hand, will be indicated on the host
machine's control panel in the form of an error code:

duplexing pickup, the secondary registration roller does not go on although paper
has been fed 4 times the interval between the point from the reversing roller +20 mm

Secondary registration sensor: stationary PI12 The secondary registration sensor detects paper when the paper has been fed 500 x

between the read position and the secondary read sensor (47.4 x 2) after the start of
11H reading.

*1: Although it used to be considered as an error, as a remedy, consider it as a jam during reading.
In case that the error occurs once again during the lock initialization at the time of the jam recovery, consider it as an error.
In case that the lock initialization is executed normally at the time of the jam recover, the job can be continued.
Although driving the unlock motor, the level of the unlock HP sensor is not changed within the specified time.
Cause: fault in either the motor or the driver IC, the unlock HP sensor fault, increased load on the unlock cam

Chapter 5
The machine flashes the original detection LED at intervals of 240 msec when it identifies a fault as being an alarm condition.

xx03 Separation has failed. The 1st original does not reach the post-separation sensor.
The 1st original does not reach the registration sensor.
xx11 The number of jam recovery sheets is greater than In jam recovery mode, the tray runs out of originals before as many as 'the number of recovery sheets
the number of originals. - 1' has been delivered.
xx14 High-speed duplexing operation fails. The original is longer than the specified limit.
