solve problems by creating new,
useful or imaginative solutions.
1) EMPOWERED LEARNER

Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving

and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the
learning sciences.
In order to help my students become empowered learners, I could create a
Google Classroom. This would allow students to be a part of digital network
and learning environment. The teacher can give feedback and help the
students develop as empowered learners.

2) DIGITAL CITIZEN

Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living,

learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and
model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical.
In order to help my students become good digital citizens, I would teach them
the permanence of their actions in the digital world.

3) KNOWLEDGE CONSTRUCTOR

Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct

knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning
experiences for themselves and others.
In order to help my students become knowledge constructors, I would stress the
importance of finding and using credible resources. To pursue answers and
solutions, students must ensure that their facts are credible. Otherwise, they
cannot conclude a valid answer.
Here is what Purdue Owl says about finding credible sources:

4) INNOVATIVE DESIGNER

Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify

and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.
In order to help my students become innovative designers, I could
present them with a problem that was confronted in history. Using a
digital tool, such as a flowchart, students would be required to solve
problems.

5) COMPUTATIONAL THINKER

Students develop and employ strategies for understanding and

solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological
methods to develop and test solutions.
In order to help my students become computational thinkers, I would
encourage them to collect and analyze data, perhaps using Google
Fusion Tables.

6) CREATIVE COMMUNICATOR

Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of

purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media
appropriate to their goals.
In order to help my students become creative communicators, I could assign a
video project. For example, students could create videos about a certain time in
history to creatively communicate the hardship or joy in that time. For a
government class, students could create a campaign commercial as if they were
running for office.

videos: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22816?locale=en_US
7) GLOBAL COLLABORATOR

Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their
learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams
locally and globally.
In order to help my students become global collaborators, I could start
pen-pal or e-pal connections with students from around the globe. Students
could discuss current events and history with those students.

Both of these websites will allow students to collaborate with other classrooms and
students around the world.
