is shocking that the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate having
been provided details of 21 undeclared foreign bank accounts of Mr. Karthi
Chidambaram and of the companies that he controls, have faild to proceed
against Mr. Karthi Chidambaram to its logical end. Mr. l(arthi has also
refused to obey three Summons Orders of the Enforcement Dlrctorare.

Moreover, Mr. Karthi Chidambaram has to be prosecuted under

Section l3(l)(d)(iii) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (pCA) alongwith his
father Mr. P. Chidambaram who as Finance Minister had enabled his son in
various illegal acts to amass huge amount of funds illegally abroad and which
were deposited in his own name or the companies that he controls. Instead,
the gJP in Rajya Sabha has tried to push through an Amendment Bill to
deletqthis very Section l3(lxdl(iii) from the pCA, so that Mr. Chidambaram
and his son can go scot free.

I have brought
against corruption to the notice of the prime Minister, This Amendment Bill
will completely water down and weaken the pCA. lt may be recalled that
the present PCA was enacted in 1988 by the Rajiv Gandhi Governmnt to
specifically include Section 13(lxdXiii) which Section was not there in the
PCA (1947) and therefore this Act had to be replacd by the pCA (1988). I
have therefore decided that I will move an Amendment to the Bill in the
Raiya Sabha to nullify this.

what all this demonstrates is that each time lhave to seek the
intervention of the Prime Minister in such matters of being thwarted in
fighting against corruption. The nation already knows that the excellent
