Learning Portfolio

Your Learning Portfolio (or E-Portfolio) task has been designed as an aid, to help
you capture the maximum benefit from your study of 186.764 ‘Foundations of E-
Learning’.

It is a digital personal space in which you capture your thoughts, your feelings and
the lessons that you learn as they occur. It will then become a reference work to
which you can return and refresh yourself at any time in the future. Remember that
as an adult learner, you are the only person who can take responsibility for your
learning and development.

The portfolio assignment will contribute 40 % to the overall course mark and is due
for marking by the tutor on or before Oct 15 2010. However, it is essential that you
will develop a discipline of filling in the various parts of your portfolio and not lose the
lessons that you learn. Therefore, the assignment is divided into 3 tasks as follows:

Task 1: Review of the Study Modules

On completion of each of the four modules of this paper, take some time to address
the below questions (max 800 words in total per module of study: 4 x 800 words in
total):

1. What is the most important thing that I have learnt about the topic of each
module of study and the process of coming to know about it? In other words,
what did I learn, and how did I learn it?
2. How can I use the new learning from this module to improve my future
practice?

Weight: 10%

Deadline: To be completed on or before:

Week 6 for Module 1

Week 12 for Module 2

Week 16 for Module 3

Week 24 for Module 4

Task 2: Critical appraisal

The second task will be a written Critical Appraisal addressing the following
questions, in relation to the process and the outcome of your wiki project:
Dr Panos Vlachopoulos

1. What did I do well, in terms of the wiki assignment?

2. What have I learnt (about my chosen topic, and about myself)?
3. What could be improved, and how?

The purpose of the Critical Appraisal is for you to reflect on the process and the
content of the work that you produced for your individual wiki project.

General format

Your critical appraisal should be no longer than 1,200 words, produced as a Word
document, excluding the appendices which may contain links to any online journal
papers or other reference material you cite, screenshots from your wiki if these are
appropriate, and links to any other online tools or resources discussed. Then, you
will need to upload the word document as file in your portfolio.

Weight: 20%

Deadline: to be completed no later than 2 weeks after the completion of your wiki

Task 3: Student-led Seminar Self Report

The self-assessed element of your student-led seminar activity must be prepared by

you and the partners individually. You will use the same form, which you used to
provide peer review as part of Assignment Two. You will fill in the form and then
upload it in your portfolio as a file for marking.

The general self-assessment criteria under consideration will be:

• Visibility and response rate of facilitators

• Facilitator-peer interaction
• Peer-peer interaction
• Overall quality and alignment of activity to chosen topic and appropriateness
to online collaboration

Weight: 10%

Deadline: no later than 7 days from the last day of your student-led seminar closure.
