Books and class notes, own notes, earlier assignments are permitted to be used. Access to mobile phone and
internet is NOT ALLOWED. Limit written explanation to the minimum and use sketches to explain the design
wherever possible.

1. Below shown is the cover label of mobile battery. What are the various communications made by the
manufacturer to the customer about the product?

2. Assume you are introducing a new bicycle to the market. Discuss various standardized components
that will be considered for design of this product. (5 marks)
3. Compare the three soap packaging designs given below. Also sketch a new packaging design for soap

4. Discuss any five Xs to be considered for in the design for X of a chair to make it competitive in the
market. (5 marks)

5. Identify the limitations of the present umbrella design. Suggest design modifications by preparing a
design space (5 marks)

6. Keeping the concept of internet of things, design a system containing any two devices, such that
output of one device can be used as input of other. (5 marks)

7. An organization has to decide to develop an interactive pencil box (a box in which students carry
pens, pencils, eraser, ruler etc.) for students of standard 7 to 10. The organization hopes that the
interactive device would act as learning aid both inside and outside the classroom for students. Design
the interactive pencil box, and illustrate how it will be used by students. (10 marks)

8. Light from vehicles leads to temporary blinding and destruction causing potential safety hazards.
Suggest any five workable solutions (5 marks)

9. Consider that you are designing a baby monitoring system what are the objectives, constraints and functions
you will incorporate in it and list the customer requirements? (5 marks)
