8. Water supply system design criteria. The water service and water distribution
systems shall be designed and pipe sizes shall be selected such that under
conditions of peak demand, the capacities at the point of outlet discharge shall
not be less than shown in the following table:
9. Maximum flow and water consumption. The maximum water consumption flow
rates and quantities for all plumbing fixtures and fixture fittings shall be in
accordance with the following table:
10. Minimum pressure. The static water pressure (as determined by the local water
authority) at the building entrance for either public or private water service shall
be not less than 40 psi (276 kPa).
11. Maximum pressure. The static water pressure shall be not greater than 80 psi
(551 kPa). When main pressure exceeds 80 psi (551 kPa), an approved
pressure-reducing valve conforming to ASSE 1003 or CSA B356 shall be
installed on the domestic water branch main or riser at the connection to the
water-service pipe.
VENTS
19. Trap seal protection. The plumbing system shall be provided with a system of
vent piping that will permit the admission or emission of air so that the seal of any
fixture trap shall not be subjected to a pneumatic pressure differential of more
than 1 inch of water column (249 Pa).
20. Required vent extension. The vent system serving each building drain shall
have at least one vent pipe that extends to the outdoors.
21. Extension outside a structure. In climates where the 97.5-percent value for
outside temperature is 0 degrees F or lower, vent pipes on installed on the
exterior of the dwelling shall be protected from freezing by insulation, heat or
both.
22. Roof extension. Open vent pipes that extend through a roof shall be terminated
not less than 6 inches (152 mm) above the roof or 6 inches (152 mm) above the
anticipated snow accumulation, whichever is greater, except that where a roof is
to be used for any purpose other than weather protection, the vent extension
shall be run not less than 7 feet (2134 mm) above the roof..
