Lesson title : Unit 8: Celebrations ( 1. Getting started, 2. Listen and read)

Aims: This lesson aims to:

- provide students (sts) with vocabulary items related to celebrations
- help students understand major and specific details of the listening text.
- Educate students to know what to do in some celebrations.
- Educate students to know the reasons why Tet is an important celebration in Vietnam.
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Language:
o remember the meanings of the following vocabulary items: Celebrations,
decorate, occur, sticky rice cake, Passover, Jewish, slavery, parade.
o develop their listening skill.
o improve their reading skill through follow-up activities.
- Social knowledge:
o The importance of Tet.

Approaches: GTM, CLT, PPP.

Teaching aids: BB, textbook, CD player, PPT, projector, paper.
