Praxis Core Exam Analysis

At CSN I have been working to acquire the knowledge and skills I need

for my teaching career, but before I take my studies to the next level by

continuing my education at UNLV and earning my Bachelors Degree, I

have to be able to demonstrate my abilities by taking the Praxis Core

Tests. These tests measure all aspiring teachers knowledge and skills.

They also help to ensure that educators are qualified to teach. The Praxis

Core Academic Skills for Educators are Praxis Core Math, Praxis Core

Reading, and Praxis Core Writing. According to the teachers prep

website, in the state of Nevada, the qualifying scores are 156 for

Reading, 162 for Writing, and 150 for Mathematics.

To take the free tests for Praxis Core Math, Praxis Core Reading, and

Praxis Core Writing, I first navigated on the Praxiss website and learned

all the skills that are going to be assessed in the actual tests. Then, I

tried to familiarized myself with the questions by practicing with sample

test questions, and taking the free quizzes also available on the website.

Finally, I watched diferent videos on YouTube in which some possible

questions on the actual exams are explained.

In Praxis Core Math, I scored 51%, which means I need to make some

improvement before I can pass the actual test. When reviewing the test,

I realized I need to study harder Geometry and Statistics and Probability

sections. In Praxis Core Writing, I scored 33%, meaning I need to make a

substantial improvement before I take the actual test. I did well in

Language and Research Skills for Writing section, but I definitely need to

make a substantial improvement in Text Types, Purposes and Production

sections. Finally, I scored 23% in Praxis Core Reading, which means I

need to make a substantial improvement before taking the actual test. In

this test, I need to improve my skills in Craft, Structure, and Language

Skills section.

By taking these free tests, I learned I am not ready yet to take the actual

tests. Before taking the actual exams, I will watch all the instructional

videos available on ETS website, and will take all the interactive

practices tests. Since I learned the big improvement I need to make

before taking the tests, it is possible I will take one on one tutoring. I will

also take the Praxis Prep Classes because all the keys subjects are

taught. Finally, I will definitely use Ed Ready for Math because I like how

it tells the students the modules they need to study harder.
