Functions of skin:

Temperature regulation
Sense of touch

All four major tissue types are present in the skin:

Epithelial in epidermis, blood vessels, sweat


glands, sebaceous glands, hair follicles
Connective in dermis, subcutaneous layer
Muscle arrector pili (smooth muscle)
Nervous nerves, touch and temperature
receptors
