Rohinya : Their Problem, Our Problem

Bangladesh plans to relocate

thousands of Rohingya who has spent
years in refugee camps near the Myanmar
border to a southern island (new from
Breaking news, May 25, 2015). Nowadays
everybody in SE Asia knows that we have
Rohingya problem. But how many of us
really know who are they? Where are they
come from? and Why no one wants to take
Rohingya into their country? From the
Restless Being organization that are in London defined Rohingya as stateless
person and the most persecuted communities in the world. Rohingya had a really
long history and it is an affected from the past. It has been a chronic problem that
cant find any solution yet. The problem of SE Asia country including Thailand is
facing now is what to do with this group of people and why no one wants to take
Rohingya into their country? To find out the answer of this question we have to go
back to learn and understand more about their history first.
Rohingya had been living in the state of Arakan (which is now part of Burma)
since the 8th century. They are a group of Muslim people living together in Western of
Burma. No one really knows where Rohing ya come from or what nationality
they really are. Most of historians said that they emigrated from Beng-gol when
British conquered Burma and some said that they emigrated during Burma got a
sovereignty and civil war in Bangladesh. However, there is not a clear information
said the real amount of Muslim people that had emigrated. After Anglo-Burmese
War in 1826, British conquered Arakan and
emigrated people from Beng-gol to become their
labors. A little while, population of Rohingya was
growing so fast from 58,255 people to 178,646
people as the following recorded of British between
1872 and 1991. During World War 2, there was a
violence between Muslim troops that British gave
the weapons to and Arakan troop. This made
Rohingya was denied to be citizens in Burma in
1982 and become stateless people today.
From their ancestor history, we can tell that they are victims of the war and
also victims of racism. No one accept them as people of the country and some people
dont think that they are human. I have no travel documents and I cannot work.
The police are always stopping me and asking where I am going and for my
passport. I say that I am from Myanmar and have no documents and sometimes
they are sympathetic. Now I have [an unofficial letter that says I am Rohingya]
which I show to the police, but they do not always accept it and demand money. . . .
Really, the letter is not so helpful, but people want at least one document to show.-
one of Rohingya man that live in Arakan said. If we think about humanity way, we
should take them into our country and give them nationality and equality. But no one
did that because every country also has their own problems to take care and has to be
solved. Its like you fight for someone elses war and youve suffered from it as a
result. In the other ways, think as you are people of some country that want to accept
more than 250 thousand of Rohingya people into your country. Will you want that?
Government will use your taxes which you must pay to the government every month
for taking care you and Rohingya people. Moreover, they didnt pay any taxes but
exploit others. They are different from us. Will you think you can accept that?
From now, many people may
think that Rohingya people are pitying.
However, we shouldnt look or judge
people from one side. There are many
reasons show how bad of some
Rohingya people are. According to Asia
Society website said that some of
Rohingya people are selfish and lazy.
They didnt do any work to make
themselves have a better life. They just
wait for someone to help them. Moreover, they are very good at growing their
population and this do nothing with their life and make their life are getting worse.
From the recorded of Rohingya population in 2013, there are about 70 percent of
children or baby in their population. There are about 30 percent of adult including
women and men. No one wants people that capable in nothing. Another reason is
because Rohingya people are sometimes non-nationality. Some of them dont believe
in any religion and if they are in country of Buddha or other religions, it will be a
problem because they have different culture and mind. This will may be make the
country in trouble. Moreover, they lived in
Burma and the part that they lived is near
with agitators such as ISIS. This is another
big reason why other countries dont
welcome them. They afraid that some of
Rohingya people are in ISIS gang and
disguise into their country to make their
country chaos.
There are many reasons why no
one take Rohingya into their country. We can
roughly simplify it into 2 main points.
First, Internal problem in each
country. There are always problems in each country and they dont want to bring
more problems that wont give them any benefits. We will try to prevent them from
entering our territory, otherwise it will create social issues," "If we open up
access, there will be an exodus here." Indonesia's military chief said. We can say that
they are selfish but they have right to do that. They know what will happen if they
open up access. They cant handle it. They have to think about their citizens safety in
priority. Each country have more than enough of their own problem to be solve.
secondly, Rohingya themselves
become reasons why no one wants them
into their country. The evidence of this is
obviously see in Thailand now. In
Thailand Rohingyas demand for 100
baht for 3 meals a day which is
impossible because even thai homeless
people didnt get that high cost of meals
and why we should give it to Rohingyas
people. They also demand for something
didnt make sense. They demand to eat in the place where they sleep. Also demand
for adult movie and if they didnt get what they want, they will mess up and throw a
rock at Thai officers. From the statistics pole in Thailand more than 70% of Thai
people dont want Rohingya into their country.Thailand prime minister (Prayuth
Chan-ocha) said "If they break the law and land in Thailand, how can we take care
of them?.. Where will the budget come from? That money will need to come from
Thai people's taxes, right?".This can prove that Rohingya make themselves into a big
trouble to let them into other countries. Most of the country have a reason not to take
rohingyas into their country and how will SE Asia people pass through this problem?
