have the affected ACMs removed before the work commences in accordance with the
requirements of the Air Pollution Control Ordinance (Cap. 311) (APCO).

RISK OF ASBESTOS

Asbestos is a mineral that occurs naturally

in the environment. Because of
characteristics such as its durability, cloth-
like qualities, and resistance to heat, it
was used extensively in buildings and
ships. However, if asbestos fibres are
inhaled or swallowed, it can cause serious
health problems. Asbestos exposure is
considered the leading cause of
Mesothelioma cancer.
