The pancreas is a glandular organ in the

digestive system and endocrine system of
vertebrates. It is both an endocrine gland

is affected by its internal and external
environment and can get out of balance. When it does, the results can
include annoying and uncomfortable symptoms.

Warning Signs of a Shoulder Injury
If you are experiencing pain in your shoulder, ask yourself these
questions:
- Is your shoulder stiff? Can you rotate your arm in all the normal
positions?
- Does it feel like your shoulder could pop out or slide out of the
socket?
- Do you lack the strength in your shoulder to carry out your daily
activities?
- Orthopedic surgeons group shoulder problems into the following
categories.
Instability
Sometimes, one of the shoulder joints moves
or is forced out of its normal position. This
condition is called instability, and can result in
a dislocation of one of the joints in the
shoulder. Individuals suffering from an
instability problem will experience pain when
raising their arm. They also may feel as if their
shoulder is slipping out of place.
Restricted Motion o the Shoulder or Arm (Impingement)

Impingement is caused by excessive rubbing of the shoulder muscles
against the top part of the shoulder blade, called the acromion (Scapular
Shoulder Blade).
Impingement problems can occur during activities that require excessive

overhead arm motion. Medical care should be sought immediately for
inflammation in the shoulder because it could eventually lead to a more
serious injury.

ELBOW PROBLEMS & THE ARMS
Elbow pain and injuries are common
complaints. Many patients come to an
orthopedic surgeon's office seeking help for a
variety of elbow conditions. Some possible
reasons for pain:
Tennis Elbow: Tennis elbow, or lateral
epicondylitis, is the most common injury in
patients seeking medical attention for elbow
pain. Exactly what causes tennis elbow is
unknown, but it is thought to be due to small tears of the tendons that
attach forearm muscles to the arm bone at the elbow joint.
Golfers Elbow: Golfer's elbow, also called medial epicondylitis, is

similar to its counterpart, tennis elbow. The primary differences between
these conditions are the location of the pain and the activity that leads to
injury. However, both conditions are caused by overuse of the muscles
and tendons of the forearm, leading to inflammation and pain around the
elbow joint.
Olecranon Burisitis: Elbow bursitis, also called olecranon bursitis,

causes fluid to collect in a sac that lies behind the elbow, called the
olecranon bursa. Elbow bursitis is the most common type of bursitis. A
bursa is a slippery, sac-like tissue that normally allows smooth movement
around bony prominences, such as the point behind the elbow. When a
bursa becomes inflamed, the sac fills with fluid. This can cause pain and a
noticeable swelling behind the elbow. The olecranon bursa measures up
to 6 cm in length, and can swell to a size larger than a golf ball.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome: Nerve compression syndromes cause

symptoms including pain, numbness, and weakness. Nerves can become
pinched for a variety of reasons. Most people are familiar with carpal
tunnel syndrome, a condition where the median nerve is pinched in the
wrist.

KNEE PROBLEMS
Knee pain is an extremely common complaint, and there are many causes.
It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your
symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the cause. If
you have knee pain, some common causes include:
Dislocated Kneecap: A dislocating kneecap

causes acute symptoms during the dislocation,
but can also lead to chronic knee pain.
Bakers Cyst: A Baker's cyst is swelling in the

back of the joint, and is usually a sign of another
underlying problem such as a meniscus tear.
Bursitis: The most common bursa affected

around the joint is just above the kneecap. This is
most common in people who kneel for work,
such as gardeners or carpetlayers.
Plica Syndrome: Plica syndrome is an

uncommon cause of knee pain, and can be difficult to diagnose. The
diagnosis is usually made at the time of arthroscopy. (Irritation or
Inflammation of the synovial capsule)
Osgood-Schlatter Disease: Osgood-Schlatter disease is a condition seen

in adolescents and is due to irritation of the growth plate just at the front
of the joint.

HIP PROBLEMS
Hip pain is common problem, and it can be confusing because there are
many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of
your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the
underlying problem. If you have hip pain, some common causes include:
Lumbar Pain Referred Symptoms: Many back and spine problems

can cause symptoms around the buttocks and hip. The most common
problems that refer pain to the hip region are herniated discs and sciatica.
Snapping Hip Syndrome: Snapping hip syndrome is a word used to

describe three distinct hip problems. The first is when the IT band snaps
over the outside of the thigh. The second occurs when the deep hip
flexor snaps over the front of the hip joint. Finally, tears of the cartilage,
or labrum, around the hip socket can cause a snapping sensation.
Muscle Strains: Strains of the muscles

around the hip and pelvis can cause pain and
spasm. The most common strains are groin
pulls and hamstring strains.
Hip Fracture: Hip fractures are most

common in elderly patients with
osteoporosis. Treatment of broken hips
requires surgery to either replace the broken
portion or repair it with a metal plate and
screws.

FOR BACK PAIN
According to the NHS (National Health Service), UK, back pain is the
largest cause of work-related absence in the United Kingdom. Although
back pain may be painful and uncomfortable, it is not usually serious.
Even though back pain can affect people of any age, it is significantly
more common among adults aged between 35 and 55 years.
Experts say that back pain is associated with the way our bones, muscles
and ligaments in our backs work together.
Pain in the lower back may be linked to the bony

lumbar spine, discs between the vertebrae, ligaments
around the spine and discs, spinal cord and nerves,
lower back muscles, abdomen and pelvic internal
organs, and the skin around the lumbar area. Pain in
the upper back may be due to disorders of the aorta,
tumors in the chest, and spine inflammation.

or psychological factors can make any back pain
problem worse, the concept of stress-related back
pain takes this idea one step further. The diagnosis of

Ear Infections
An ear infection, also known as otitis media, is caused by improper
drainage of fluid that collects behind the ear drum during a cold, allergy,
or upper respiratory infection and the presence of bacteria or viruses.
Swimmers Ear
Swimmers ear or, otitis externa, is typically a bacterial infection of the ear
canal which differs from otitis media which involves fluid behind the
eardrum. Otitis externa is most commonly caused by water getting
trapped in the ear canal.
Ear Wax
Ear wax (cerumen) is normal in healthy ears. The purpose of cerumen is
to moisturize and protect the skin of the ear canal and to trap dust and
particles before they reach the ear drum. Cerumen is formed in the outer
part of the ear canal. Normally, wax makes its way to the outer opening
of the ear canal, flakes up, and falls out.

ENERGY TREATMENTS FOR THE EYES
There are several eye problems that are more common among people as
they age, although they can affect anyone at any age. They include:
Floaters: These are tiny spots or specks that float across the field of
vision. Most people notice them in well-lit rooms or outdoors on a bright
day. Floaters often are normal, but can sometimes indicate a more serious
eye problem, such as retinal detachment, especially if they are
accompanied by light flashes. If you notice a sudden change in the type or
number of spots or flashes you see, visit your eye doctor as soon as
possible.
Dry eyes: This happens when tear glands
cannot make enough tears or produce poor
quality tears. Dry eyes can be uncomfortable,
causing itching, burning, or rarely some loss
of vision. Your eye doctor may suggest using
a humidifier in your home, special eye drops
that simulate real tears, or plugs that are

Fever is an elevated temperature of the human body that is substantially
beyond the normal range. Normal body temperature fluctuates daily from
about one degree below 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit to one degree above that
number. Lower body temperatures usually occur before dawn; higher
temperatures in the afternoon.
The presence of a fever is usually related to stimulation of the body's
immune response. Fever can support the immune system's attempt to
gain advantage over infectious agents, such as viruses and bacteria, and it

Small vessel disease is a condition in which the small arteries in the heart
become narrowed. Small vessel disease causes signs and symptoms of

FIRST AID ENERGY TREATMENTS
First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury. It is usually
performed by non-expert, but trained personnel to a sick or injured
person until definitive medical treatment can be accessed. Certain self-
limiting illnesses or minor injuries may not require further medical care
past the first aid intervention. It generally consists of a series of simple
and in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an individual can
be trained to perform with minimal equipment.
The key aims of first aid can be summarized in three key points:
Preserve life: the overriding aim of all medical care, including first aid, is
to save lives.
Prevent further harm: also sometimes called prevent the condition
from worsening, or danger of further injury, this covers both external
factors, such as moving a patient away from any cause of harm, and
applying first aid techniques to prevent worsening of the condition, such
as applying pressure to stop a bleed becoming dangerous.
Promote recovery: first aid also involves trying to start the recovery
process from the illness or injury, and in some cases might involve
completing a treatment, such as in the case of applying a plaster to a small
wound. First aid training also involves the prevention of initial injury and
responder safety, and the treatment phases.
