proponentsoftenassertthatJesuswouldapproveoftheiragenda.Theyclaim
thatJesusneversaidanythingatallabouthomosexuality.Notoncedothe
gospelsrecordhimcondemninghomosexualactsasbeingsinful.Therefore,
theactivistsclaim,Jesuswouldapproveofsamesexmarriageand
Christiansshouldbesupportive.

AlthoughitistruethatthegospelsdonotrecordJesusdirectlycondemning
homosexualacts,toconcludeonthisbasisthatheinanywayapprovedof
themisfaultyreasoning.Itcommitsalogicalfallacyknownasargumentuma
silentio(Latinforargumentfromsilence).Jesusisnotonrecordagainstitso
hemustbeforit.Suchanargumentbasesitsconclusiononasupposedlack
ofevidencetothecontraryratherthanontheexistenceofanyevidenceone
wayortheother.Inreality,lackofevidencedoesnotproveanything.

ThefactthatthegospelsdonotcontainarecordofJesusdoingsomething
doesnotmeanthathedidnotdoit.Itcouldbethatthegospelwriterssimply
didnotrecordit.ThegospelsdonotcontainanexhaustiverecordofJesus
teaching.Johntellsusasmuchattheendofhisgospel(John21:25):

ButtherearealsomanyotherthingswhichJesusdidwere
everyoneofthemtobewritten,Isupposethattheworld
itselfcouldnotcontainthebooksthatwouldbewritten.

condemnationswerenotrecordedinthegospels.Infact,itisreasonableto
assertthathediddosobecausehomosexualactswerecondemnedintheOld

IntheNewTestament,itisprimarilyinPaulslettersthathomosexualactsare
directlycondemned.InhislettertotheGalatians,Paulremindsuswherehe
gothisteaching(Gal1:1112):

ForIwouldhaveyouknow,brethren,thatthegospelwhich
waspreachedbymeisnotman'sgospel.ForIdidnot
receiveitfromman,norwasItaughtit,butitcamethrough
arevelationofJesusChrist.

PaulwasthelastapostletobesentbyJesus(cf.1Cor15:8)andweshould
expectthathereceivedthesameassurancesthatJesusprovidedtotheother
apostles.JesuspromisedhisapostlesthattheHolySpiritwould(amongother
things)bringtoyourremembranceallthatIhavesaidtoyou(John14:26).

Paulcertainlysharedinthisassurance.Thatbeingthecase,histeachingon
homosexualitymayverywellbewhatherememberedJesussayingtohimina
revelation.

Additionally,whenJesussentoutrepresentativeshetoldthem,"Hewhohears
youhearsme,andhewhorejectsyourejectsme,andhewhorejectsme
rejectshimwhosentme"(Luke10:16).Thus,sincePaulwassentbyJesus,
whenwehearhiminhisletters,wealsohearJesus.

TherereallyisnodoubtthatJesuscondemnedhomosexualactsassinfulso
donotbefooledbythefaultyreasoningofactivists.
