Repair Assistant - Software
Upgrade Assistant
(Samsung)
This helps you repair the software on your Samsung device using your
computer/PC.

The repair process may take up to 30-90 minutes. Do not disconnect the
device from the computer during the repair process.

Notes:

To use the Software Repair Assistant (SRA), ensure the wireless device is
powered on and able to be unlocked if necessary then connect it to a compatible
computer using the supplied USB cable.
If the device is not recognized immediately, pull down the notification panel
to switch the device mode from "Charge Only" to "MTP", "File Transfer" or "Software
Installation" mode.
For those devices without the "File Transfer" option (e.g., Galaxy S7, etc.), tap
"Connected for charging: touch for other USB options" then tap "Transferring Media
FIles".
The most recent software version becomes available on the SUA/SRA tool
within a week of a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA is
unavailable for usage.

Windows

1. Ensure the Software Upgrade Assistant software is installed. Refer to Initial


Setup - Software Upgrade Assistant for assistance.
If the software doesn't download from your device after plugging into your
computer, download from Samsung's website.
2. From the Windows desktop, navigate Start > All Programs (Programs)
> Verizon > Launch Utility Application.
For PCs using Windows 8 or 10, skip this step and start with step 3.

3. Click the "Hidden icons" arrow to find and click the Software Upgrade
Assistant tray icon to launch the utility app.
The Hidden icons arrow is located on the desktop, not the screen with tiles. If
tiles are present, click on the Windows start button (located in the bottom-left) to
show the Windows desktop.

4. Click Repair Assistant.


5. Click Run Repair Assistant.

6. Click Repair.

7. Select the information to backup:


The available information to repair may vary.
To backup all information click Select All.
o Contacts
o Calendar
o Messages
o S Memo
o Call log
Click Backup.
The backup process begins.

Once the backup process has completed the repair process will begin.
Once the repair process has completed, the restore process begins.

When the recovery process has completed, click Close.


The status will show as Repair completed.

Macintosh

1. Ensure the Software Upgrade Assistant software is installed. Refer to Initial


Setup - Software Upgrade Assistant for assistance.
If the software doesn't download from your device after plugging into your
computer, download from Samsung's website.
2. Click the Software Upgrade Assistant tray icon.

3. Click Repair Assistant.

4. Click Run Repair Assistant.


5. Click Repair (located on the right).

6. Select the information to backup:


The available information to repair may vary.
To backup all information click Select All.
o Contacts
o Schedule
o To Do
o Message
o S Memo
Click Backup (located in the lower-right).

The backup process begins.


Once the backup process has completed, the repair process begins.

Once the repair process has completed, the restore process begins.
When the recovery process has completed, click Close.
The status will show as Ready to repair.
Repair Assistant - Software
Upgrade Assistant (HTC)
This helps you repair the software on your HTC device using your
computer/PC.
Caution:
Don't disconnect the device from the
computer or power it off during the repair
process.
The device may automatically restart a
few times during the software repair
process, which takes approximately 15
minutes.
The most recent software version becomes
available on the SUA/SRA tool within a
week of a new software update. During this
time, the SUA/SRA is unavailable for usage.
1. Ensure the wireless device:
o is powered on and able to be unlocked if
necessary
o connected to a compatible computer
using the supplied USB cable.
Ensure the Software Upgrade Assistant
(SUA) software is installed. Refer to Initial
Setup - Software Upgrade Assistant for
assistance.
Connect your device to a computer that
has HTC Sync Manager installed.
If prompted, disable device lock
setting, reconnect the wireless device
then click OK.
Click Repair.
If desired, check "Open HTC Sync Manager when a phone is
connected" to enable.

From the Software Repair Assistant (SRA) page, select the


applicable device then click Repair.

The software repair begins once the software repair package is


downloaded and progress of the download and repair show via a
status bar.

When prompted, click OK to complete


repair process.

Click Close (located at the bottom right)


to exit the Software Repair Assistant.
