Tsingy de Bemaraha

Madagascar
If you have a love for wildlife, consider visiting
this amazing vacation spot! Tsingy de Bema-
raha is located on the beautiful island of Mada-
gascar and is filled with new species of ani-
mals. In fact, scientists discover at least five
new species in Tsingy de Bemaraha on each
expedition to the region. Also, most of these
animals are endemic meaning hey cannot be
found anywhere else in the world! If you love
learning about animals and immersing your-
self in nature, this is the place for you!

Tsingy de Bemaraha is encompassed by razor
sharp limestone obelisks which can easily cut
through skin. One incorrect move can result in
certain death. Take for example, the story of
Steven Goodman, a scientist exploring the

kneeled down to rest. Doing this drove a lime-

The Boiling Lake, Dominica
The Boiling Lake in Dominica received its name quite
easily, the water is perpetually boiling. The edge of
the water, closest to the shore, has been recorded to
reach 197 degrees Fahrenheit, while the middle of the
lake has never been precisely measured. It is advised
that when visiting the lake and hiking the 3-4 hour
trail (one way) that all gold and silver jewelry be re-
moved. This is because there is so much sulfur in the
air it can tarnish the metals. It is also strongly advised,
sort of an unspoken requirement, that a guide accom-

strictly forbidden at all times, probably due to this

danger factor, the Boiling Lake is surrounded by beau-
tiful greenery and is always enveloped in a fog, which
some can consider quite beautiful, adding another
feature to the lush tropical island it is located on.
The Bolton Strid,
Yorkshire
Located in an idyllic woodland in the English country-
side, surrounded by plenty of stereotypically English-
sounding villages such as Appletreewick, and
Addingham, is the Bolton Strid. Surrounded by large
mossy stones and aged deciduous trees, this woodland
stream is quite the sight to see, especially during au-
tumn, when the trees are orange, the stones are green
and grey, and the water of the Strid is a foamy white.
Visitors that have taken the opportunity to frolic in the
waters all respond in the same way, pure silence. This,
however, is not due to the breathtaking views, but in-
stead the suffocating abyss that has swept away each
and every soul that faces the misfortune of falling in.
You see, the Bolton Strid swallows people whole, and
only occasionally does it spit out evidence of those lost
within. If one were to travel a mere hundred yards
downstream, they would see that the simple little creek
that could be crossed in a single stride has now turned
into the rather substantial River Wharfe. The River
Wharfe is around 30 feet across and 10 feet deep in
most places, which may lead some readers to ask,
Where does all that water go in the Strid? The answer
to that, of course, is down. Nobody knows how deep the
Strid is, and nobody knows exactly what is hidden be-
neath its surface as the undercurrent is so violent that
any piece of measuring equipment could not survive the
battering it would receive. In short, this quaint forest
stream holds a championship belt in murder for having
a 100% mortality rate for any fool that would underesti-
mate it.
