PROJECT OVERVIEW
The 140 MW installed capacity Tanahu Hydropower Project is a Storage project located at
Tanahun district and utilizes the water from Seti River. For this project, construction of
infrastructure activities are going progressively and for major infrastructure activities following
contractors are involved;

1. East India Udyog/Waiba Infratech JV Sub Station and Construction Power.


2. Swachchhanda-Khani JV Construction of Camp Facilities.
3. Asish-machhapuchhre & Parajuli JV Access Road from RCC Bridge to Powerhouse.
4. Singha & Brother's / Kashyap JV Access Road from Chapaghat to Betini.
5. NEA Soil lab Widening and core drilling at audit tunnel AP-2.

MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE ACTIVITIES

1. Construction of Camp Facilities

Background

A contract was signed on May 25, 2016 between Tanahu Hydropower Company (Employer) and
Swachchhanda-Khani JV (Contractor) for execution of the "Construction of Camp Facilities for
Tanahu Hydropower Project at Damauli, Tanahu" Tender No. THL/CF-072/073-1. The
construction period is 18 month from the start date. The completion date shall be mid of
December 2017.

For this contract major work consists of construction of total 33 building of, 2 office buildings
for employer and consultants, 2 nos. of residential building of type A, 12 nos. of residential
building of type B, 10 nos. of residential building of type C, 2 Dormitory, 1 guest house, 1 health
post, 2 restaurants and 1 guard house. And compound wall, river diversion work, greenery,
road, water supply, electricity and so on. Around 11% of financial & 20% of physical work
progress has been achieved.

2. Construction of Access Road from RCC Bridge to Powerhouse

Background

A contract was signed on Feburary 18, 2015 between Tanahu Hydropower Company (Employer)
and Ashish-Machhapuchhre and Parajuli JV (Contractor) for execution of the "Construction of
Access Road from RCC Bridge to Camp and Powerhouse Site, Right Bank of Seti River at
Damauli" Tender No. THL/Access Road-Rb/071/72-1. The construction period is 15 month from
the start date and extension doe two times so completion date shall be August 2017.

Total length of this road section is 3254 m (from RCC Bridge to Powerhouse) with 2000m (RCC
Bridge to Camphouse) DBST.

Around 41% of financial & 75% of physical work progress such as excavation, side and cross
drain structure was achieved. Excavation, side drain, cross drain, retaining wall and other

activities is going continue but base and sub base course work with DBST is remaining. And
additional 100m long new track is excavating in the month of February from end point i.e. ch-
3+914 to way to powerhouse. No any physical progress has been achieved in this month.

3. Construction of Access Road from Chapaghat to Betini

A contract was signed on April 18, 2016 between Tanahu Hydropower Company (Employer) and
Singha & Brother's / Kashyap JV (Contractor) for execution of the "Construction of Access Road
from Chapaghat to Betini at Damauli" Tender No. THL/AR/072/73-1. The construction period is
15 month from the start date, completion date shall be July 2017.

Total length of this road section is 3234 m (from Chapaghat to Betini) with 2000m (Chapaghat
to RCC Bridge) DBST.

Around 45% of financial & 50% of physical work progress such as excavation, side and cross
drain structure, lying of base and sub base material was achieved. Road way excavation, side
drain/cross drain, retaining wall and other activities is ongoing continue.

4. Construction of Sub Station and Construction Power

Background
A contract was signed on February 03, 2015 between Tanahu Hydropower Company (Employer)
and East India Udyog/Waiba Infratech JV (Contractor) for execution of the work "Design,
Supply, Delivery, Installation/Erection/Construction, Testing and Commissioning of 6/8 MVA,
22/11 kV Sub Station, 33 kV Sub-Transmission Line and 11 kV Destruction Line for Project
Construction Power" Tender No. THL-CP-01-071/72. The construction period is 15 month from
the start date and extension for 6 month so completion date shall be end of May 2017.

Around 82% of physical work progress such as control building, compound wall and boundary,
electric poling work, gantry tower, cable trench and other activities was completed. Cable
stringing work and suspension tower construction work and installation of different equipment
is ongoing continue.

5. Widening and core drilling work at Audit Tunnel (AP-2)

A contract was signed on November, 2015 between Tanahu Hydropower Company and Soli,
Rock and Concrete Laboratory, NEA for Geotechnical Investigation at Dam and Powerhouse
Site.

For this contract major work consists of

Enlargement of the audit tunnel to a Cavern size (4*4*6)m for work space
Drilling (101mm diameter hole) from the test adit for the purpose of additional rock
mechanical tests.
Drilling in the river bed for confirmation of bedrock level at Dam site area.

Among this, tunnel widening work, drilling in the river bed of bedrock at dam site, drilling of
PHC-04, PHC-01 and PHC-02 has been completed. But drilling of PHC-03(a) and PHC-03(b)
which are vertical up 10m was found very dangerous so these two holes are not planning to
drill.

Inside the tunnel 5 Nos. of Block Shear test was completed by AIMIL.
