2017 AshTrae GOLF LEAGUE RULES

BASIC STRUCTURE
League play is held at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course on Thursday Evenings. Our first tee time is 3:18 pm and we are scheduled for 13
tee times. There are 5 Four-week tournaments and a final outing which is the League Championship Tournament (LCT). There is also
a Match Play tournament built into the schedule.

MEMBERSHIP & FOURSOMES

A)* Membership is limited to 52 golfers.
* New members must be sponsored by a current member.
* Membership is based on waiting list and group choice.

B) * Foursomes are set for year but can be switched if golfers involved agree.
* Please realize you have a tee time, BE ON TIME. Treat this tee time just as you would a
Non-league time. This is the worst problem we have in the league.
* If you miss your tee time you will be bumped by any and all groups ready to go in schedule
order until there is an opening, even if that opening is last.

LEAGUE ENTRANCE AND FORMAT

A) Yearly dues total $125.00 this covers regular season prize money, bonus program fee, hole-in-one contest, final outing party &
prizes.
We have 22 weeks reserved if there are no rain-outs.
- Please pay entire amount by March 28th.
- Please make checks payable to "Robert Timko" Mail to 8880 Stephanie Dr. N. Royalton, OH 44133.

B) Each of the five regular season tournaments consists of 4 nine hole scores. Golfers must play at least three rounds in a tournament
to qualify for points in that tournament. If a member golfs all four rounds of the tournament he may throw out the worst round, only
the three best rounds of the four weeks are used for scoring. All rounds are used for handicapping.

C) Make-up rounds are permissible providing:

- The round is played at Sleepy Hollow (side of course played by league) with another league member.
- The make-up round is completed prior to the final week of that current tournament.
- Make-ups are limited to 2 per year.
- Greens fees must be paid for by golfer at time of make-up.

D) Gross score less handicap for best three of four rounds are totaled to determine ranking of
golfers + / - par. Points are awarded for order of finish, with the top 16 earning points.

E) Rain outs: If 24 or more golfers complete a round it is considered an official round. If a

round is rained out the tournament is extended until 4 rounds are played.
IMPORTANT: It is the golfers responsibility to find out if the course is open, if it is we will
be probably be playing so show up if there is any question.

F) Match Play Tournament runs concurrent with regular play. So always play as if stroke play. No conceding putts,
since it counts in stroke play.

QUALIFYING FOR LCT:

A) The top 16 point totalers will qualify for the LCT.
- Points will be earned as in order of finish: 1st place - 16pts. 2nd - 15pts....16th - 1pt.
- In the event of a tie for first in the regular season tournament points and prizes will be split.
All other ties will split total points available for positions of finish.
- In the event of a tie for the 16th LC position, the last week golfed will break the tie.
B) The winner of the Match Play Tournament will get an automatic qualification. The top point totalers will fill the
remaining spots.

TEE BOX RULE: ***NEW***

Sleepy Hollow has added a new White tee box between the Orange & Yellow (our normal) tees. In order to make this difficult course
a little more playable for some members we will be instituting a new tee box policy. Here is the formula:
2 x (Your 9 hole handicap) + Your age = Tee Box Total
Total 89 or less = Yellow Tee Total 90 99 = White Tees Total 100+ = Orange Tees
Your birthday is the trigger point for any changes.
RULES OF PLAY:
1) You will have 3 different playing conditions.
SUMMER RULES (No touching or cleaning of the ball anywhere except as provided by USGA rules)
ROLL IN FAIRWAY -If carts are on cart path only you will be allowed to roll the ball in your fairway only. Not rough or
hazards. Move ball with club head NO MORE than 6 inches no closer to the hole.
EXTREME CONDITIONS - If carts are on path only and it is extreme conditions you will be allowed to lift, clean and place
everywhere.
This will be stated on sign-in sheet when you check in. PLEASE CHECK SIGN-IN SHEET.

NEW FOR 2017:

Hazards -
New: All heavily wooded areas or non-mowed natural grass areas will now be treated as hazards. These areas are designated
as green on the course map. The map was intended to include everything, but if there is an area of woods (i.e. trees on left of 16 are
woods, intermittent collection of trees to right of 14, pine trees to on right of 4 and right of 15 are not woods) or natural non-mowed
grass not on the map, it is also to be included. This rule does not preclude any golfer from dropping at any course designated drop
area (i.e. Hole # 6). Areas already marked as course hazards are shown in gold on your map.
RELIEF: Since these areas are now to be treated as hazards, you are entitled to all relief of a normal hazard (1: two-club drop from
entry into hazard, 2: drop on line extending backward from flag to where ball entered hazard or 3: re-load).
Please note that this still does not entitle anyone to take a line-of-flight drop
Lost Balls
If a ball is lost and it is highly unlikely that it has been lost in a hazard, relief may be sought by dropping the ball at the point
nearest to the spot where it is believed the ball was lost. A one-stroke penalty is to be applied if this option is taken. Of course, you
may still apply the USGA lost ball rule and re-load from the point of your prior shot, also under a one-stroke penalty.
If the ball is lost near a hazard, it is to be presumed that the ball was lost in the hazard, and hazard drop rules will apply. If
the ball is lost near an O.B. area, it is to be presumed the ball is O.B. and O.B. drop rules will apply.

Out of Bounds
If you hit the ball Out of bounds it is loss of stroke and distance. You must re-hit from previous spot (with 1 stroke penalty) .
To speed up play a re-hit in our league is considered a provisional ball, because there is NO going back and re-hitting once you realize
your ball is O.B. If you do not hit a provisional ball and cant find your first ball you must take a 2 shot penalty and hit within 2 club
lengths of where you thought you went OB or lost your ball.
New: If you choose the two-stroke option, you now have the option of a line-of-flight drop where you can trace your line of flight
backward and drop from there. This will at least allow you to have a clear next shot after taking two penalty strokes. This is the only
time the line-of-flight option may be used. Out-of-bounds areas are marked in purple on the map.
Suggestion: Always hit a provisional ball immediately if there is any doubt. Also, every golfer should mark their ball
before the round and be sure your fellow golfers know what ball you are playing.

Hole #2 Drop
If your ball goes into the ravine, you may still drop and hit your next shot (under one-stroke penalty) from the Caitlyn Jenner
tees. You also may now use normal league hazard dropping rules if your ball goes into the trees.

3) Absolutely " NO GIMMIES" Putt out everything. 2 stroke penalty if called.

4) SLOW PLAY IS STILL A PROBLEM . KEEP IT MOVING!
Be sure to wave up next group on all par threes.

MATCH PLAY:
The Match Play portion of the league will consist of 4 weeks of Match Play for every player.
- We will randomly draw names for Matches. This year we will separate A & B players
- We will draw the next matches the night of the first matches to enable any switching
of groups for someone who knows they will not be available on the scheduled Match play week.
- At the end of the 4 weeks of Match play the highest 4 point totalers of both A & B will playoff in an 8 team
bracket format for the Championship.
Scoring:
- Play is fully handicapped. Each hole is worth 2pts. If the hole is tied each player receives 1pt for that hole.
- The winner of the Match gets and extra 2 points and the low net gets 2 points.
- If you know you will not be attending the night of a Match you need to let me know so I can try to schedule your match the week
before or after. There really is no reason you can't make up a match, you have 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after a scheduled
Match play week to get that done.
HANDICAPS:
Scores are adjusted per PGA Handicapping rules and updated weekly.

PRIZES:
- Weekly low net - 5 Tournament winners & runner up - Weekly long putt on #9.
- Pin shots on all Par 3's - Prizes, dinner and party day of LCT.
