ARCTIC WORLD ARHIVE BY PIQL

Store Norske is an established institution in the Arctic
with resources to build and maintain mountain vaults.
This collaboration has resulted in a unique Arctic World
Archive established in Gruve 3 (Mine no. 3) in Longyear-
byen on the island of Svalbard, for physical storage of
important and/or sensitive data, documents and records.
The first nations to deposit data was Norway, Brazil and
Mexico. Gruve 3 is a state owned mine that housed the
Global Sead Vault when it first started in 1984.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Arctic World Archive is available through all autho-
rised Piql Services providers. Step one for a client who
wants to deposit their most valuable information here,
is to connect with the provider of Piql Services in their
country or region. Together with the Piql consultants, the
client will then agree on a customized preservation plan
tailormade for their specific needs.

of any size, ranging from pure text documents
to images and audio-visual contents. We convert
them to open-source and standard preservation
formats.
2 We write your digital data and meta-
data onto the secure, migration-free
and high-resolution piqlFilm. The film
is protected in our unique piqlBox.
Select between storing the data in
computer readable digital format or
as human readable text or images.

3 After the data is written to the piql-
