The House and Senate have sent a bill to President Trump's desk that would allow internet service providers
like AT&T and Comcast to freely sell information about what websites their customers visit without needing
their permission first.
Supporters say the rule change will remove regulatory burdens and unleash innovation on the
internet, and eliminate consumer confusion by ensuring there is a single, uniform standard for what
types of internet user data can be sold to third-party advertisers.
Critics say this change is a threat to internet users' privacy that would make sensitive information
about Americans' web-browsing activities available to the highest bidder.
