Protection
The IB L2 IP 500 MLR 4-6A module is a motor
starter that provides no short-circuit protection in
the module itself. Short-circuit protection
according to IEC 60947 must be implemented in
a separate device (maximum compliance with
IEC 60947-1).
The required short-circuit protection is a fuse

m
with "gL" characteristics and a nominal current of
16 A.

co
The maximum short-circuit current that should
be disconnected by the fuse depends on the

s.
fuse type.
A 16 A circuit-breaker with "gL" characteristics nt
has a maximum short-circuit switching capacity
of 6 kA. A fuse (Neozed) with the same
ne
characteristics can disconnect a short-circuit
current of 50 kA. Select a fuse type according to
the maximum short-circuit current which can be
po

expected at this connection point in the system.

All contactors are switched off in the event of an

INTERBUS reset, which may also occur when
the INTERBUS Loop 2 line is interrupted.
