From the architect. 18th street is the axis to Oklahoma Citys premier arts and science high school.
On the lot facing the high school entry, once stood two empty apartment buildings destroyed by fire

opportunity to create a new catalyst for revitalization within an aging neighborhood consisting of
mixed quality small apartments.

Inspired by the notion that a well-designed apartment can be art, 18th street studios provides a
lesson in proving that modularity, e iciency, and economy can be something inspiring and thought
provoking. Elements of the surrounding brick buildings with flat roofs and large patios are
configured into new forms, expressive of today, while respectful the past. Similar to the surrounding
apartment context the studios have a central common stair leading to 4 units per floor apartment
flats, but the new units are wide open plans that can be configured and arranged per tenant
demands. The exterior patios are exaggerated and a generous and unique o ering to the Oklahoma
City market. Although all the units have the same kitchen and bath core, the module of the living
and patio spaces vary among units creating subtly individual apartments.
