FLOAT GLASS

Is produced by floating a
continuous stream of molten tin.
The molten glass spreads onto
the surface of the metal and
produces a high quality ,
consistently level sheets of glass
that is later heat polished . The
glass has no wave or distortion
and is now the standard method
for glass production and over
90% of the world production of
flat glass is float glass.

The disadvantage of using these

float/clear glass is that they can
cause serious injuries or even
death for the end-users, when it
breaks.
TEMPERED GLASS

Is one of the two kinds of the

safety glass regularly used in
application which standard glass
could pose a potential danger.

Tempered glass is four to five

times stronger than standard
glass and does not break into
sharp shards when it falls.

Tempered glass is manufactured

through a process of extreme
heating and rapid cooling ,
making it harder than normal
glass.

Applications include commercial,

institutional and heavy-traffic
installations.

Toughened glass is used when strength,
thermal resistance and safety are
important considerations. The most
commonly encountered tempered glass
is that used for side and rear windows
in automobiles

The term toughened glass is generally used to

describe fully tempered glass but is
sometimes used to describe heat
strengthened glass as both types undergo a
thermal 'toughening' process.

LAMINATED GLASS
LAMINATED GLASS

Laminated glass is a kind of safety

glass that is commonly used for
automobile windshields. It consist of
two layers of glass with a layer of film,
called the interlayer, in between them.
The glass is designed this way in order
to prevent it from shattering into
sharp pieces when struck by an object
or when the car is an crash.
Laminated glasses is
produced using one of two
methods:

Poly Vinyl Butyral (PVB) laminated

glasses is produced using heat
and pressure to sandwich a thin
layer of PVB between layer of
glass. Other polymers such as
Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) or
Polyurethane (PU) are used. This
is the most common method.
For special applications, Cast in
Place (CIP) laminated glass is
made by pouring a resin into the
space between two sheets of
glass that are held parallel and
very close to each other.
BULLET-PROOF GLASS BULLET PROOF-GLASS

Modern bullet-proof glass is made of

layers of toughened glass and
polycarbonate laminates alternately
arranged and bonded together. Bullet
proof glass is made by binding
alternate layers of such toughened
glass and polycarbonate laminates. If
the force exerted on the front layer of
the glass by an object like a fast
moving bullet, carrying a large amount
of momentum and energy, exceeds the
breaking strength, a crack develops in
the glass layer.

These are usually used for the fire

exit doors, and high-traffic areas.
FROSTED GLASS
FROSTED GLASS

Frosted glass is glass which has

been rendered opaque through a
process which roughens or
obscures the clear surface of the
class. There are numerous
applications for frosted glass in
both homes and businesses. In
addition to purchasing frosted
glass, intrepid crafters can also
make it at home with a few basic
supplies. Making frosted glass can
be an excellent beginner craft
project.

This is used if the primary

consideration is privacy.
STAINED GLASS
STAINED GLASS

Stained glass is an art form in

which colored glass is cut into
shapes and placed into a
mosaic form a picture. The
glass is held in place by metal
strips soldered together to
gives the stained glass
strength and stability. Stained
glass is most commonly seen
in church windows, where it
typically depicts saints or
scenes from the Bible, but
stained glass window do not
necessarily have to depict a
scene at all.
