Gadgets, examples are smartphone, iPad and tab has destroyed communication among

friend and family. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and example to support
your answer.

Gadgets have become the first thing we touch in the morning and the last thing we stroke
at night. Are they taking over our lives and causing us to lose human contact with each other?
Gadgets provide easy access to satisfying your needs. They help you feel connected to the world
at large, they feed you information assuring perceived growth, they provide variety, allow you to
contribute and to receive acknowledgements from others. And the best part you participate on
your terms: whenever you like, wherever you like, as much as you want. However, I agree that
technology can be huge relationship killers. Technology might be just as addictive as alcohol and
drugs and could also wreak havoc with personal and work relationships. Often a small tiff may
turn into an ugly fight leading to break-ups simply because the conversation between couples is
not verbal but through text messages. An extra exclamation mark may be misinterpreted as
anger, sarcasm or a sign of disrespect.

Perhaps, someone may be sliding into an unhealthy relationship with technology include
using text messages, email and voice mail when face-to-face interaction would be more
appropriate, or limiting time with friends and family to tend to your email, return phone calls or
to surf the Internet. An inability to leave home without a cell phone, to relax without constantly
checking email or to stop using the Internet are also worrying signs. When the Internet becomes
a more powerful draw than spending time with family or friends, or when someone pays more
attention to gadgets than what is happening in real life are more danger signs.

Besides, I see how tapping on iPads and watching TV diminish our opportunities to
engage with and care for another person. We become accustomed to the simplified, the
superficial, the sensational; we turn to the endless stories of celebrity relationships and online
dramas rather than engaging in our own. Another real life situation - my son was glued to the
television watching some cartoons. I had to announce my arrival verbally which startled them
because they had not heard me drive in. This scenario is so common and annoying as well.
People no longer talk like they used to in the past. We used to have so many visitors at weekends,
but this has changed because of the mobile communication. Before mobile phones and
cellphones, people saw each other in person and called each other on the phone. Even with

1
cordless phones there was still an element of publicity with a home phone. And parents usually
set time limits on how much time one could talk on the phone at one time. Now, with cellphone
plans offering unlimited calling and texting, there are no boundaries. Adults, teens and even
young children walk around perpetually glued to their cellphone. Many people send hundreds
and even thousands of text messages. With Bluetooth technology, the cellphone user is
constantly plugged in to the phone.

As political scientist Robert Putnam notes in Bowling Alone, Good socialization is a

prerequisite for life online, not an effect of it: without a real world counterpart, internet contact
gets rangy, dishonest, and weird. In a nutshell, it is all depends on how do you learn to set
limits, develop boundaries, how do you make some sense out of what does it mean to healthily
use the technology, or to healthily enter into a relationship with someone.

Do we learn more from finding out that we have made mistakes or from our successful
action?

We often hear such statements as It is okay to make a mistake, that's how you learn. Or
that was a real learning experience? In fact, it was a disaster; but at least we learned something
through doing. The implication is that it is only through our action that we discover what we
know and what we still need to learn. If you want to understand something, try to change it.
Thus, for us to learn, to create our knowledge, it is necessary for us to act in order to uncover and
discover what we don't know or what doesn't work. Thus, our errors are our greatest
opportunities for learning. Inaction or silence may be the greatest barriers to our learning

Why dont we try to learn how to learn from our mistakes? Come up with some ways to
learn how to learn from your mistakes. They do not have to be ground breaking solutions but one
that will help us from our mistakes. One way we can do this is by making sure to think about
what we did wrong the first time and changing it to a way we believe will help make us succeed
and reach our full potential. We can also ask others in our life who witnessed our mistake and ask
them how they believe we can change what we did the first time. A great example of learning
from mistakes is on a situation where a child was trying to grab a hot iron - no matter how many
times you stop the child from grabbing it the child will continue until you let him burn his hand;
and he is a child at age 5. Learning by failure taught he many things in that situation such as red
metal is hot and will hurt him but more importantly that his mother was trying to protect him
from hurting himself.

Although we all make errors, no one ever intentionally sets out to produce such an error
(to do so would be to be successful). This detection and correction of the gaps between what we
intend and what we produce is a form of problem solving. One set of criteria for judging the
success of our problem solving efforts is the extent to which the problem is solved, it stays
solved, and the relationships among those involved are not harmed. Any behavior which limits
our effectiveness as problem solvers, which limits our ability to detect and correct these gaps,
can be interpreted as incompetence. We are incompetent when we behave in ways which limits
our learning about our effectiveness, when we behave in ways which shut down inquiry. We are
competent when we keep the inquiry going.

3
In conclusion, mistakes help us learn the existing theory of life between good and bad.
Sometimes, a mistake may seem too good to approach it or it may be too dreadful to even dream
about in your wildest dreams. The theory above is exclusively mine, which I learned from a big
mistake that was related to the field of education. This is the only phase in human life, where we
fall to the pressures and rise above them learning what is the best for us. Hence, I believe in
learning from our mistakes. Many things cannot be taught conventionally or are better learned by
messing up the first time. If you dont make mistakes, youre not working on hard enough
problems. And thats a big mistake. - F. Wilczek

Today our workplace and neighborhoods are composed of people of diverse backgrounds.
For this reason it is important for people to find ways to get along with each other. Write an
essay explaining how people in diverse background can get along better.

We live in a world composed of various people, ideas, cultures, social background which
sometimes are locked in a web of conflicting interests, yet it is conventionally expected that
peace should reign. Multiculturalism is is a good way to meet new people. Nowadays our planet
is becoming more and more developed, to the point that there are not blank spots on a map
anymore. People made efforts to discover all places on the Earth through hard conditions and
misfortunes. We have planes, trains, boats cars and all other vehicles that bring us to different
destinations around the world. It is very easy to move from one country to other without any
difficulties or problems. That is why we can notice an enormous mixture of nationalities in a
country. In just one nation we can meet Chinese, Vietnamese, English, French or even Indians. In
this situation we must consider about the advantages and disadvantages of this phenomenon.

Studies show that the lack of cohesion between races, sexes and cultures is due to
mistrust, stereotyping, and more within-culture conversation and language problems. When these
problems are not paid attention to it may lead to an inability to endorse ideas, the inability to gain
agreement on decisions, and inability to take united action. In the educational system it is very
important that there is a wide array of diverse groups in the classroom. It is important to have a
diverse student body, not only to create a realistic setting but also to encourage people to grow
outside their boundaries and learn something new about a culture they may not be familiar with.
By accomplishing this in the classroom you can avoid child unawareness and actually enlighten
them about other things that go on around them with people they may be friends with or know.

Besides, we should treat everyone the same may be unintentionally oppressive. Although
every person is unique, some of us have been mistreated or oppressed because we are a member
of a particular group. If we ignore these present-day or historical differences, we may fail to
understand the needs of those individuals. Often people are afraid that recognizing differences
will divide people from each other. However, learning about cultural differences can actually
bring people closer together, because it can reveal important parts of each other? It can show us
how much we have in common as human beings. Respect for human dignity is important.
Respect for other cultures, their identity, and loving beliefs good. Only through education can we

5
learn to tolerate and respect each other. It is best to be tolerant and accept people's ways, than to
attempt to inflict your own viewpoints on them.

Hence, for all the reasons we identify, and countless others, the potential for conflict is
always present when two or more humans live close enough to permit interaction. Thus, there are
two choices; to find a civilized way to peacefully coexist and constantly work towards this goal,
or to fight at every opportunity with each other. The former is a constant struggle with imperfect
results and success is determined by trust rather than might ( Boutte, G, 1999). There have been
many wars where a choice was made to opt for destruction rather than work for peaceful
coexistence.

It is difficult to make changes in ones life. Do you agree with this statement? State your
view in an essay. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge.

There is nothing permanent in life except changes, said philosopher Heraclitus. Talking
about changes in life, it is something that has no end point. We sometimes do not even realize
how many changes we made through our entire lives. Changes are in the very nature of being.
Changes can be categorized into two main types. Changes that take place in the course of nature
which is we have little or no control over. We cannot, for instance stop the time or change the
past. The other change is the one we witness either in someone elses life or from our
surroundings that we are capable to control and can be guided by oneself or others.

They say old habits hard to die. Well, I could not agree more because it is not easy to
make changes in someones life and better not, trying to revolutionize the way of life of that
person. From my personal experience, I have seen people changed in all sorts of way. These
people are urged of becoming a healthier person, trying to be a good student or even improving
themselves at the workplace. To be the man behind the great change is never easy. I, too, was
trying to do the exact thing and it is not as simple as we saw in the movie. When we are talking
about changing ones life, it means we are trying to redirect or reroute someone to be something
new or becoming a better person from who he or she was before. It is hard to influent others
because that person may not understand our real intention of helping them. Move over, it is
tough to change old habits. For example, when we try to change a smoker to give up smoking, it
takes time for him to stop because smoking had become his lifestyle and habit. Plus, some people
are really stubborn and care less about their surroundings.

A few days ago I was talking to a friend who had made some very noticeable and very
positive changes in her life. He talked about how difficult the journey had been and how long it
took to get there, but how much happier he felt that he had succeeded. He also commented that
although he was proud of what he had done so far, he knew that there was more work to do.
Change is hard. And it is easy to get discouraged when you try and do not get the results you
were hoping for. But the reality is that just making the effort is, in fact, progress. Change is not
an event with an exact start and stop point; it is a process. Each step you make, even if it is a
relatively small step such as making the resolution to change, is still a step in the right direction,
bringing you closer to your ultimate goal. It is also important to recognize that even if you take a

7
few steps back, it is not the end of the world. In fact, research has found that change rarely
occurs in a straightforward, linear sequence, and when people falter, they usually do not fall all
the way back to where they first began the journey. In fact, if viewed and used correctly, the
missteps can serve as learning opportunities, helping you become better prepared for the next leg
of the trip.

"I'm only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something, and
because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do that something I can do."
Edward Everett Hale. The plain and simple truth is that each and every one of us only get one
shot at this life. We are not guaranteed a certain number of days, so we must decide today what
we will give our lives to. So the question is, will we choose to live a life of love in service to
others or will we refuse to do our part because we feel we cannot make a big enough change in
our life?

What are some important qualities of a good supervisor (leader)? Use specific details and
examples to explain why these qualities are important.

Qualities of a good supervisor are always on the agenda, because they influence on
satisfaction of employees and work effectiveness. Despite of the place where a supervisor works,
he should be intelligent, fair, responsible and friendly. First, intelligence is a vital feature for a
supervisor, because he should comprehend the function of his organization and have ample
information about management in order to cope with his tasks. He should be responsive and
aware of every detail related to his work and be a good psychologist. Just imagine how one can
demand others to do work that he does not know what consists of it. For example, my friend
works for a financial institute, where employees make all work by themselves and supervisor or
a chief of the department just signs appropriate documents. That is why he cannot answer
directors questions and shouts at workers that they have not informed him.

Second, a supervisor should be a fair person. He should not be prejudice toward some
stuff members. He should separate work load equally among the workers, so that one not to work
more than other. A good supervisor should also pay attention to return for done work. If
employees have same post and work load, they should be paid accordingly. Furthermore, a
supervisor should warn employees about big projects and prepare them in advance. He should
not require completion of a project in a week, if its execution demands a month. In addition, a
good supervisor should be responsible and hard working in order to motivate his workers. If he
ignores his duties, employees will do the same. He should set an example for them by
demonstrating his attitude to the work.

It is also worth mentioning that a supervisor should treat his stuff like family members
and considerate their feelings. He should criticize or praise them in a direct way. He should not
confuse them among other workers. He should take into consideration their problems and try to
help them in difficult situations. He should not be rude to his workers, just because he is in bad
mood today. All people on the Earth are equal despite their posts. In short, intelligence, fairness,
responsibility and friendliness are vital traits for a good supervisor to create warm atmosphere
and enlarge productivity. If you want to succeed in business or other field, the first necessary step
is to hire a good supervisor with above mentioned characteristics. Supervisors manage the day-
to-day operations of the workplace and ensure both production and quality targets are met. The

9
decisions they make while doing this affect not only their specific work areas, but also other
areas of the business. Effective supervision is therefore about managing up, down and across.

It stands to reason then, that just being good at their job does not equip people to be
good supervisors of other people doing that job. Technical skills and a good work history and
high job performance are important starting points, but companies that promote on this basis
alone have found that they not only get an ineffective supervisor, they lose a good worker.
