METHOD STATEMENT FOR Excavation

Safety Arrangements:

Underground utilities like sewers, water pipe lines, electric cables, etc. shall be
located and
Adequate precautions shall be taken
The excavation trenches shall be properly shored/timbered if necessary and
excavated material shall be placed 1 m from the edge of the trench
Heavy equipments such as cranes, dumpers shall not work near the edge of
excavation area and be away by at least 6 meters.
Excavated areas shall be barricaded properly.
Aluminum Ladder shall be used for access and aggress.
All workers and staff shall be provided with appropriate PPE.
Toolbox talk will be conducted to labors and staff.
Work permit shall be obtained before taken up work.
Proper adequate lighting will be provided during working at nights.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Antitermite Treatment

Safety Arrangements:

Location for Storage of materials shall be identified to avoid misuse from


anybody at site.
Study the safety data sheet to understood do's and donts of chemicals.
Check for shelf life of chemicals.
Safety PPE shall be provided to all workers who will carry out the works.
Safety tool talk shall be given to all workers who involved in this work.

Description of works:

1. Get approval from the Clients where the chemical applied.

2. Visual inspection of chemical shall be done to ensure the chemical is approved for
use.

3. Measure the proportion of chemical and water by using measuring cans and Jars.

4. Ensure the quantity prepared will be utilized within the defined area and the area
to be measured

Before commencing the work to get the required quantity of the chemical.

5. Ensure the area is absolutely dry.

6. The chemical applied shall be uniform and as per manufacturer's specification and
good

Construction practice.

7. The unused chemical shall be taken back to the storage area and protect.

8. Sign off the checklist and maintain the record.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR PCC WORKS

Safety Arrangements:

Aluminum Ladder shall be used for access and aggress.


All workers and staff shall be provided with appropriate PPE
Toolbox talk will be conducted to labors and staff
Proper adequate lighting will be provided during working at nights.
Traffic control shall be done for movement of transit mixers, mini dumpers and
trucks.
Adequate support shall be provided for chute.

Description of works:

1. Ensure that the Ant termite treatment carried out for the area where PCC will be
carried out.
2. Lay out shall be carried out with the help of total station and mark on the pits
where PCC Shall be carried out. Ensure that the instrument shall be calibrated as
per standard.
3. Provide shuttering for sides for PCC works.
4. Mark Levels by using leveling instrument either with the nails on sides of form
work or put level pads on ground. Ensure that the Instrument shall be calibrated
as per standard.
5. Ensure the raw materials available in sufficient quantity to complete the pour.
6. The concrete shall be produced after obtaining the Pour card approved by the
Clients representative.
7. Transport the concrete produced by the RMC plant by suitable transport like
dumper, concrete pump or other means.
8. The concrete dispatched from the RMC Mixer shall be consumed with in the
prescribed time limit and not to withhold the concrete for long time.
9. Ensure that no extra water added in the concrete which affects the quality of the
concrete.
10.The concrete shall be unloaded into the chute or others.
11.Pour the concrete in the correct location and in sequence to avoid the double
handling and save the time and thus increase the productivity.
12.Compact the concrete to the required level and proper surface finish shall be
done.
13.Clean out all loose concrete and keep the concreted area neat and clean.
14.Remove the sides of PCC and the stripping time will be as per specifications.
15.Curing shall be carried out as per the methodology of curing.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR RCC WORKS

Safety Arrangements:

All areas in elevated areas shall be barricaded by using nylon rope on


periphery.
Aluminum Ladder shall be used for access and aggress.

Walkways shall be provided for movement of workers and staff to avoid trap in
the reinforcement
All workers and staff shall be provided with appropriate PPE
Toolbox talk will be conducted to labors and staff
Proper adequate lighting will be provided during working at nights.
Traffic control shall be done for movement of transit mixers, mini dumpers and
trucks.
Adequate support shall be provided for chute.

Description of works:

Reinforcement Works:

Ensure that the sufficient quantity of reinforcement of each dia is available.


Ensure that the reinforcement steel is O.K. with respect to mechanical and
chemical properties and QC Engineer has allowed using the bars.
Prepare the BBS (bar bending schedule) for beam and wall and get approved
by clients rep before start cutting.
Cutting, bending and placing shall be carried out as per BBS and drawings
The rebar of wall shall be securely tied with the help of lateral supports on
either side to ensure the verticality and correct position.
Transport the reinforcement from the central yard to the required location
either manually or by using dumper.
Lifting of reinforcement shall be done by using crane or other suitable means.
The reinforcement bars shall be placed on the platform which is raised by using
wooden runners to avoid direct contact with the soil.
Provide PVC/Precast concrete cover blocks to reinforcement to ensure proper
cover
Sign off the Rebar work for after duly signed by the check lists and obtain
permission to do shuttering work.

Shuttering:

Obtain the approval of Shuttering scheme for all items.


Scaffolding shall be provided as required.
Prepare shop drawings for all items and take approval.
Check for availability of shuttering materials as per scheme.
Shuttering shall be properly cleaned and oiled before fixing.
Fix the shuttering with all supports.
Check for line, level, size and plumb of shuttering.
Provide construction joints by using M.S.welded mesh of SWG 14.
Signoff the shuttering after checking and duly signed the checklists Clients.

Concreting works:

Design the concrete mix and take trials.
Test for the acceptance criteria as per requirements.
Estimate the quantity of pour to be taken and requirement shall be submitted
to clients for approval.
The area of concreting shall be properly cleaned with loose materials before
pouring and check for the rigidity of supports.
Arrangement shall be made before arrival of concrete like concrete lifting and
placing equipments, labor, mason, chute etc.
After receiving concrete at site, check the batch sheet whether the concrete
brought as per the requirement.
Check for concrete for quality with respect to temperature, workability.

Placing of concrete shall be done by suitable equipment. Ensure proper placing


and check the concrete properly covers the defined area.
Proper compaction shall be done by using vibrators and tamping shall be done
by wooden mallet.
Continuously keep watching the shuttering and rebar to avoid displacement
during concreting.
Top surface shall be finished to the required level.
Clean all loose concrete around form work and reinforcement after concrete
work completed. All waste shall be stored in a pre-defined location.
Cover the top surface of concrete with plastic sheets of 150GSM to prevent loss
of moisture from concrete.
Remove the shuttering as per stripping time defined and ensure that the
concrete will not be damaged during removal of form work.
Do post concreting check and shown to clients for their comments and obtain
sign off of the structure after duly signed by clients
Start curing immediately as per methodology.
All form work shall be cleaned and oiled and take to the next location.
Remake shuttering for the next pour if any damages observed.
Take any corrective steps if defects observed as per approved methodology.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Backfilling and Plinth filling:

Description of works:

1. The area shall be cleaned of all loose materials and debris.

2. The proper level shall be marked and a nylon stringe shall be tied from one end to
another end.

3. The stone shall be of proper size and the oversize stone shall be broken into the
suitable size by hammer.

4. The stone laid to the required level and compacted by using wooden rammer.

5. All gaps shall be blinded by using stone chips and crushed sand.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Waterproofing:

Area of waterproofing shall be protected by barricading using nylon rope.

METHOD STATEMENT For Masonry:

Safety Arrangements:

The lifting tool and tackles for carrying materials shall be certified by the

Description of works:

architectural drawings.

3. The concrete surface where the masonry is in contact shall be checked for

taking of masonry.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Plastering:

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Flooring Works

Safety Arrangements:

Check slippery area.


Check wet area.
Check is there any oil / Chemical sprayed or not.
Proper House Keeping.
Illumination levels at night work.
Barrication, if required.
Putting Safety Boards.

Description of works:

1. Study Drawing, Specification and method Statement duly approved by Client.


2. Check material with specifications.
3. Follow incoming material inspection procedure.
4. Mark the locations for Electrical Conduits, Junction boxes, Pipes etc.
5. Mix mortar in the required proportion as per specifications. Spread in specified thickness.
6. Refer the approved tiling pattern and start laying and jointing of tiles.
7. Check work review and rectify, if required.
8. Proceed with Cleaning of the joints and polishing of the surfaces.
9. Continue Curing.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Doors & Windows

Safety Arrangements:

Check the Scaffoldings properly.


Check the area where Scaffolding is fixed.
Proper access of doors and windows.
Proper railing should be done.

Safety belt should be provided.

Description of works:

1. Study drawing, Specification and method statement duly approved by client.

2. The material received should be inspected as per procedure.

3. The doors and windows are fixed firmly into the masonry

4. Joints should be properly sealed with appropriate material.

5. Fixing of doors and windows should be one line and level.

6. Cleaning of doors and windows should be done to remove mortar stains

And curing and raking of joints.

7. Any rectification suggested by client should be attended.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR Painting

Safety Arrangements:

Check the supports for Scaffoldings.


Proper railing should be done.
Check whether Bracing is done properly or not?
Bamboo and planks should not be used.
Safety belt should be provided at heights.

Description of works:

1. Study of Drawing, Specification and method Statement duly approved by Client.

2. The Material received should be inspected as per procedure.

3. Clean the area and make the prepatory arrangement for painting work at site.

4. Painting Surface should be checked properly.

5. Primary Coat should be done before painting.

Work Instructions: - General Safety

1. All Safety Instructions / precautions to be taken, while working on site, are


explained to staff contractors and workmen on site.

2. During execution of critical activities like demolition of R.C.C. structures / walls, str.
Steel works, heavy scaffolding, shuttering, etc. approval of all safety measures

from S.I.C. / V.P. (Operation) / Clients are taken and all such jobs carried out under
strict and constant supervision.

3. Hazards works like cleaning of chemical / ETP Tank, gutters, vessels etc. and
shifting of vessels, pipeline, machines, chemical drum, other party jobs, etc. not
allowed even in case of special request from anybody / urgency etc. to us or
our sub contractors, labourer.

4. Quality Safety shoes, belts, helmets, goggles are enforced before work
commencement.

5. All night works if required are done with proper lighting and Engineer / Supervisor
& Electrician present till job completion.

6. Overloading of floors / passage / walkways with materials like cement, str. steel,
Blocks, sintex water tanks etc. is prevented.

7. Work area is protected / restricted for man movement while heavy erection,
scaffolding, shuttering, or material movement.

8. Diesel / Petrol Drums, cans, chemicals, paint materials, etc. are well protected,
covered and only authorized persons are allowed for its use / handling.

9. All service cut outs, open tanks, deep gutters, etc. are covered firmly with suitable
framework / Jali followed by old plates, plywood (without any gaps / holes) etc. so
as to work above and below it.

10.All Electrical works done by only authorized electrician.

11.Cables / floodlights erected on wooden poles & tied with katha (no binding wire to
be used)

12.Cable is properly run on poles with sufficient clearance for vehicles.

13.Cable joints and open connections are not permitted.

14.Electrical D.B.'s & cables are protected from water / material movement.

15.All debris / material movement is from defined area and in defined manner. This
will be covered from outside.

16.All vehicles movements & steel, shuttering, shifting etc. is controlled by signal
man on the sides of vehicles / material movements.

17.All machinery electrical connections are checked, protected & well earthed.

18.Machine operators are well trained and machines are properly fixed and covered.
Their licenses are checked for experience.

19.All machines & materials are well maintained and are defect free for use.

20.Firm side rails / Railings are provided to stairs / area with open surface / sides with
toe board.

21.Important Phones Nos. of nearest Fire Brigade, Police, Hospitals, Ambulance are on
Site Communication Board.

22.First Aid box (cotton bandage, potassium permanganate, tincture iodine, dettol,
knife, blade, scissors & general medicine) with all requirements is in stores and
stock of material in it is checked every week by store keeper.

23.Fogging and antimaleria treatments / Precautions are taken.

24.Access Roads are clear & are well maintained.

25.Site & Labour camp is clean and well maintained. Proper water connections,
sanitations facilities & drainage are provided.

26.While excavation, precautions for collision / landslide, machinery movements,


blasting etc. are taken.

27.All measures to protect Clients / Customer's property machines etc. are taken.

28.Necessary steps to be taken after notice of accidents and responsibility are fixed
by S.I.C.

29.Child labour not allowed entering Site premises.

30.Take precautions & alert like snake at the time of Site cleaning, excavation and in
Labour camp areas.

Work Instructions :- Safety while working with Electrical works.

1. Cable routine layout for showing temporary cables laid under the ground for
construction work.

2. Temporary lines given to function boards are with proper supported on special
wooden / M.S. poles about a sufficient height for dumping of truck movement etc.
& other loading / unloading of material.

3. All cables are without joints or if needs the joint then it must be protected in
wooden junction box.

4. For all junction boards from which the cutter m/c, welding m/cs & all other m/cs to
be working are properly earthed with G.S. / cu wire.

5. The proper rating of ELCB / MCB is provided before giving the supply to any of the
function board / distribution board.

6. All main switches, busbars & other switch boards are properly earthed which is
fixed on distribution boards.

7. The Armored cables used for distribution network are earthed with their armour of
cable.

8. No. dumping of materials on camles which laid into underground for distribution
network.

9. The flexible cables / armored cables which are laid on the road side are through
proper protective pipes etc. & should be deeper as compared to other side lying.

10.All focus lighting for temporary work should be proper jointing or through pin top
on junction boards.

11.5A / 15A pin tops are used for all electrical m/cs like drilling, cutting, etc. with
proper earth wire.

12.Big. Polish m/c & tile cutting m/c should operate with proper earthling.

13.All main switches, ELCB / MCB'S & cables to be checked before using for
temporary work.

14.Proper specifications, makes, switches / ELCB's, Busbars & cables are to be used.

15.Proper size of cables are used for halogens of higher capacity & m/cs used for
cutting, welding, etc. & for mixer, lifts, pumps, etc.

16.Cable markers are used for locating the cables for maintenance.

17.Proper sizes Dor / Star-delta starters are used for mixer, lifts, pumps, etc.

18.All drilling, cutting, polishing & mixing machines & their mortars shall be checking
before connections for any shocks / leakage currents etc.

19.Open connections for any works should be avoided & it should be properly with
sockets / pins tops, switch, etc.

20.Temporary D.G. sets are maintained properly by checking, water level in battery
connections & other fuel level, oil level, etc.

Work Instructions: - Safety while working with Scaffolding / Shuttering


works.

1. Responsibilities: -

Inspection of all scaffolding materials Pre-erection ..

Supervision during erection & dismantling .

Post Erection Inspection but before using .

During work execution, removal & dismantling of scaffolding

If other Agencies allowed to work on same scaffolding - Responsibility

Previous Experience of workmen for erection & for working on scaffolding is


confirmed.

2. Design / erection scheme approved by S.I.C. / Safety Engineer / Clients.

3. Material dedicated till job completion and no removal of any part of scaffolding
before total dismantling.

4. Base plates supported / rested on firm and leveled ground / timber & to prevent
sinking & slipping. (Don't use packing / supports like brick, wooden pipes, etc. to
base plate).

5. All scaffolding supported / suspended, sufficiently & properly braced, and rigidly
connected with building part which is strong enough. (Cross & Angular
supports @ every floor).

6. Planks / Platform are of good quality, of sufficient thickness (min. 50 mm for 8'
length) & width (min. 700 mm wide for workmen without any material).

7. Planks / Platform are firmly tied on both ends and are in level on both ends & not
projecting beyond end supports.

8. Gap between two planks not exceeds 25 mm & precautions to safeguard while
walking below scaffolding.

9. Guard rail & toe boards @ 3' - 4' ht.

10.Gangway / ramp / area used for man movement shall be plated, planked, covered
(min. 2 m wide).

11.Ensure no overloading on scaffolding.

12.No shocks and violent movement of materials.

13.No timber / material with projecting nails shall be used.

14.Remove unwanted & loose materials on scaffolding.

15.All Scaffolding Area to be adequately & suitably lighted while working.

16.Electrical wiring & equipments shall be removed before erection by authorized


person. (In & around scaffolding).

17.Precautions during setting up & dismantling of scaffolds, (warning signs, safety
cartons,) to ensure safety for the traffic.

18.Protection of scaffolding against accidental collisions with traffic. (keep min. 1.0 m
clear distance) & ht. 2.5 m for Pedestrians.

19.Access to fire alarms, & escape stairs, cable tunnels, hydrants etc. shall remain
free at all times.

20.Catching scaffold or Net (of min. 1.3 mtr. wide) shall be provided.

21.Safety belts & helmets shall be compulsorily used.
