beforethatpressRSTandholditdown.Firstthedisplayshowsallthesegmentsonfor
aboutasecondandahalfthenthedisplaygoesblank.ReleasetheRSTbuttonnow
anditisswitchedoff.Thepictureaboveisavirtualchronoscope.ClicktheRSTbutton
andwatch.ThenClickandholditandseewhathappens.

Beforefiringthegunbesuretoalignthe
cb625correctlyandsecurelyonthe
barrel.Thepelletmustflythroughthe
centreofbothringsonthetopoftheunit.
Thebeamofinfraredlightisaboutthe
diameterofacocktailsticksoadjustthe
heightofthemountcarefullyandattach
securely.Shootingaholeinthedevice
doesnotconstituteawarrantyrepair.If
youhaveabreakbarrelgunwithsignificantrecoilbewarnedthatifthegunkicksitcan
causethecb625tomoveintothepelletpathifitisnotsecured.

PressingandquicklytheRSTbuttonplacesthecb625inREADYmode.Thismeans
thattheinfraredlightsandsensorsareswitchedonanditiswaitingforapellet.Always
checkthedisplayatthismoment.

Onceapellethasbeendetectedbythefirstsensorthecb625startsitstimergoingand
waitsforthesecondsensortoreport.Thecountsaremadeatfourmillionthasecondas
thepellettravelsthe2.346inches.Ifthesecondsensordoesnotreportapellet,perhaps
thechronoscopewasnotonstraight,thedisplayshowsbAd.Youcanemulatethisby
selectingtheBadbuttonnexttothepellet.TheFastbuttonsendsapelletatabout
900ft/secandtheSlowbuttonatabout250ft/sec.
Ifallgoeswellthesecondsensorseesthepelletandcalculatesthevelocityinfeetper
second.Itthenusesthepelletweighttocalculatetheactualpowerandthendisplays
oneofthem.IfyoupresstheFPSbuttonyouseethespeedandifyoupressthePDS
buttonyouseepower.Thecb625rememberswhichyouselectedlastandreturnstothat
displayafteranewshotisfired.Ifthepowerisbelowthepowersetasthelegallimitthe
displayshowsLEGAL.OtherwiseitshowsFAC.

Pelletweight.Aspowerdependsonweightthechronoscopeneedstoknowtheweight
ingrainsofthepellet.Itstartswithadefaultvalueof15.0grains.Whathappensisthat
thedigitontherightbeginstoflash.IfyoupressthePDSbuttonagaintheflashmoves
tothemiddledigitandagaintotherighthandoneandthenbacktothelefthandside.
EachtimeyoupresstheFPSbuttontheflashingdigitincreasesbyoneuntilitmakes9
whenitgoesbackto0soyoucansetanypelletweightupto99.9grains.Whenyouare
happypressRSTandthevalueissaved.
Pleasenotethatchangingthepelletweightdoesnotactretrospectively.Thememoryof
thepowerofthelastshotisstillrecordedasitwascalculatedwiththeoldweight.

Calibrationsettings.Thecb625shouldprovideaccuracytowithin1%ifusedproperly
howeversomepeopleprefertobeabletofinetuneittomatchanotherchronoscope.
Thecalibrationvalueisnormallysetto100butbyadjustingitdowntozeroyoucan
makethecb625read1%fastandbyadjustingitupto199youcanmakeitread1%
slowwithothervaluesinstep.
Seriallinktesting.ThedisplayreadsSndandpressingFPSsimulatesa280fpsshot
andpressingPDSsimulates810fps.

Theserialoutput.Thelittlethreepinconnectorneartheclampboltallowsyouto
connectyourcb625directlytoacomputer.Seeelsewhereonthiswebsitefordetailsof
theinterfacetobuyorhereforthedetailstobuildone.Inbrieftheoutputis9600baud,8
bitASCII,noparity,onestopbitas05voltsthatneedsinvertingandconvertingtothe
RS232forthecomputer.TheoutputisanASCIItextnumberfollowedbyrepresenting
thenumberof4MHzcountstocoverthe2.353inchgapso"1000"represents784ft/sec.

thisdata.

Whatgoeswrong?
Ablockedsensor:dirtordamagecanblockthebeamofinfraredlightusedtodetect
thepellet.Ifyoulookintotheringsonthetopofthechronoscopeyouwillseealittle
roundthingonbothsides.Itisnestleddownintotheplastictotryandprotectitbuta
beamoflightisprojectedfromonesidetotheotherwhilethechronoscopeisinREADY
mode.Ifeithersensorisinoperableitdisplaysthesunbehindcloudslogoonthedisplay
whenyoupressRSTandrefusetogottoREADY.Ifyouarenotgettingreadingsinspect
thesensors.Ifyourgunisoilytheycouldbefouled.Iftheyaredamageddonotabandon
hope.IntheUKCombroofferaquickandinexpensiverepairservice.
Flatbatteries:Thehighestdemandforpowerfromthebatteriesiswhenthesystem
goestoREADYwithitslightson.Ifthedisplaygoesdimthenitistoolate.IntheUK
Combrostockbatteriesatalowcostbecauseifyoubuythemfromachemisttheyare
ratherexpensive.
Youcanpowerthecb625fromanexternal6voltsupplythrough
the3pinconnector.Thecentrepinmustbethenegativeterminal
andboththeouterpinsthepositive.Whenyouconnectpowerthis
waythecb625detectsitandgoesintoaltoreadymode.This
meansthatafteryoufireashotanditdisplaystheresultsthe
readyindicatorcomesbackonandyoucanfireanothershot.This
iswhytheCombrocomputerinterfaceadapterhasacontainerfor
fourAAcellsasifyoupowerthecb625likethatyoucanfiremany
shotsandtheywillallbeloggedbythecomputer.
