HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

During my last stage, I educated myself thoroughly to pre-learn the material I was going to
teach

my students. Then, I planned my lesson in details in order to enhance their education.

Then while I was teaching, I used variety of teaching skills to transfer the knowledge to my

students.
For instance, I tried to find variety of pictures, videos, and simulation website so

that everybody could grasp the concept easily. I know that some concepts in science tend

to be very abstract and as I found them difficult, I anticipated that my students would do

the same. Also as a visual learner myself, I realized that the more visual aids, the better they

will understand the concept. Secondly, I tried to come up with a real demo or hands-on

activity

that can be easily done in class. This way, students are interacting, engaged into

the

lesson and it will be easier for them to study later in a way that whatever we did in class
could
be easily connected to the material they are trying to learn.

I have

my own adaptions towrad students with special needs. For instance, when arranging a seating
plan,
I try to put more talkative and lively person with a student with autism. Knowing that students with
autism

will not be good at socializing with their classmates, I try to make them sit with someone whom
they can feel easier and more approachable to talk and socialize. Also, knowing that so many students

thesedays
have either ADHD or ADD, I try to make an individual arrangement with each of them. For
instance,
I let them take a hall pass or walk around at the back of the classroom if they are getting

hyperactive or difficult for them to concentrate. This way, they can get a refreshment or break and it does

not
matter to me as long as it becomes easier for them to learn the lesson and not bother the other
classmates
in the same classroom. I also follow the IEP given to each student, talk to other colleagues

who

might have the same student as I do and do not hesitate to talk to the parents, knowing that they
want to know how school is going for their kids.
