THE COMPONENTS / EQUIPMENT IN

THE SWITCHYARD SUBSTATION
MAY 22, 2014 ANUNGPLN LEAVE A COMMENT

Is part of the substations that serve as a major component of the laying of the
substation.
Understanding of the switch yard, in general, are:
If the main component of the substation is installed in a large open area,
it is called a switch yard .
If the main component of the substation is installed in a confined area
(narrow) and inside the building, then called the switchgear.
Exactly is meant switchgear , is equipment that is in switc yard.
So that meant a switch yard, is the name reserved for conventional substation.
While the switchgear, is the name reserved for Gas Insulated Substation (GIS).
Components - components / equipment on the substation switchyard:
1. Power Transformer
Function and transmit electrical power, by changing the amount of
voltage , while frequensinya fixed.
Power transformers for voltage regulation function well.
Power transformer is equipped with earthing transformer that serves to get a
neutral point of the transformer power. This equipment is called Neutral Current
Transformer (NCT).
Other equipment is grounded transformer, called Neutral Grounding Resistance
(NGR).
2. Neutral Grounding Resistance (NGR)
Components are installed between the neutral point of the transformer to
earth. Serves to minimize flow disturbance.
Protection is a practical and usually not too expensive, because the
characteristics of the relay is affected by the neutral earthing system.
3. Circuit Breaker (CB)
Is a breaker apparatus, which serves to break the electric circuit in a state
loaded (fast-).
CB can be operated at the time of the network under normal conditions and in
the event of disruption.
Because at the time of work , CB issued (cause) arc, then the CB is equipped
with fire extinguishing arc.
Extinguishing the arc in the form of:
Oil (OCB).
Air (ACB).
Gas (GCB).
4. disconnecting switch (DS)
Is a separation device, which serves to separate the electric circuit in a state
not loaded.
In GI, DS plugged in:
Transformer Bay (TR Bay).
Transmission Line Bay (TL Bay).
Busbar.
Bus Couple.
Because DS can only be operated on the network conditions are not loaded,
then that must be operated beforehand is CB. After the series decided by the
CB , the new DS-operated.
5. Lightning Arrester (LA)
Serves to protect the (safety) electrical equipment in substations of
overvoltage due to lightning strikes (lightning surge) on the wire transmission,
and is caused by the solar circuit (switching surge).
Under normal circumstances (no interference), LA is isolatif or not be able to
deliver an electrical current. In a situation occurs that causes the disorder LA to
work, then LA is conductive or conductance to earth.
6. Current Transformer (CT)
Functioning change the current magnitude of the large current into a small
current or decrease the amount of electric current to the electric power system,
be current for measurement and protection systems.
Isolate the secondary circuit to the primary circuit, which separates the
measurement and installation of high-voltage protection .
7. Potential Transformer (PT)
Working to change the amount of voltage from high voltage to low voltage or
minimize the amount of electrical voltage in the power system , into the
amount of voltage for measurement and protection.
Isolate the secondary circuit to the primary circuit , by separating the
measurement and installation of high-voltage protection.
8. Transformer Use Alone (TPS)
Serves as a source of AC voltage 3 phase 220/380 Volt. Used for the internal
needs of the substation, among other things:
Swtich yard lighting, building controls, and around GI GI page.
Refrigeration (AC).
Rectifier.
Water pumps and electric motors.
Other equipment that require low voltage.
9. Rail (Busbar)
Serves as a meeting point / relationships (connecting) between the power
transformers , SUTT , SKTT as well as other electrical components that exist on
a switch yard.
Components rails (busbar), among others:
Conductors (AAAC, HAL, Thal, BC, HDCC).
String Insulators & Fittings (Insulator, Tension Clamp, Suspension Clamp,
Eye Socket, Anchor Sackle, Spacer).
