Introduction:

In my portfolio, I will explain five different art techniques that teachers can use for kids,

which includes: bubble painting, blow painting, string printing, marbling and fruit- vegetable

painting. I will also write for each art technique the resources needed, procedure & classroom

tips, skills developed, developmentally appropriate language, and last one links with curriculum).

Definition of Art techniques:

It is a technical skill, to express what has been learned and ability to apply procedures or

methods to affect the desired result. (dictionary, 2017). Besides, it's way to give kids a chance to

be more creative by using mixed colors, pencil, or using other techniques in the art by exploring

different art techniques. These methods are used to help children improve upon their painting,

drawing.

The Five Art techniques:

One of the interesting art techniques called Bubble Painting. The resource and

materials that we need to do this technique are (paper watercolors soap bowl

straw- plastic cups). The procedure and classroom tips that we need to use this method

are: First, students will be working in groups. Second, students have freedom to choose

any color they want. Third, for good result put the water then the soap then the color and

mix them together. Four, start blowing into the cup until getting bubbles. The last tips are

to print the bubbles put the paper up bubbles. The skill developed are physical when they

move their hand (fine motor skill) by using a straw to make bubbling in the cups.

Cognitive when using their thinking. Social and emotional when they work together and

communicate with each other. Imagination and experimentation when the child use this
technique to imagination what the shape will be made after doing this exterminates. The

developmentally appropriate language is mix pour put use blowing color names

such as (blue, red, green). According to AD curriculum, it is mostly child center because

the teachers provide to them materials in front of them and they have the choice, and they

can show their creativity. In math: the child learns the name of circle shape also; the child

learns the size of the ring shape. In science: they learn the name of colors, such as: blue,

red, green. In English, develop their language by learning names of materials words.

 The second unusual art technique called Blow Painting. The resources and

materials that we need to do this technique are (white sheet of paper straw water

color brush eyes- water glue scissors plastic cup). Procedure & Classroom

Tips are first, drop the paint into the paper. Second, blow air through the straw. A

skill developed into this technique are creativity: when a child is exploring color

mixing and that help to develop student knowledge, Physical development (fine

motor skill) when the students use the materials on their hands. Cognitive

development, when the teacher gives to child simple materials to use their

imagination in creating. Linguistic, in this point, the child will develop the language

through the materials the will be used in this activity. Social and Emotional when kids

work together and sharing the idea about the result the found. The developmentally

appropriate language is (blow, the name of colors, mix color, creativity, painting).

According to Ad curriculum, this technique useful in a different subject such as in

English, when the child learns new vocabulary about the name of colors. Also, it's

helpful to learn the color of weather is blue. In sciences, they will discover the shape

and deed they find after finish doing this technique. In math, learn the different forms

patters.

 The third funny art technique called String printing. The resources and materials

that we need to do this technique are scissors cup of water string painting color-

A4 papers -wool yarn-brushes-glue- acrylic colors. Procedure & Classroom Tips of

how to apply this technique is first, take a wool yarn. Second, stick the wool yarn on

the paper using glue creating the picture you want. Third, choose any color and paint

the wool yarn. (try to use little water) and the last tips are placed another blank paper,

above the already painted paper. And press on it gently. The skill developed through

using this technique. Physical development: Fine motor skills, when kids will use

their finger to stick the wool and the brushes to paint it. Social development: when

children are working together and sharing the ideas. Besadie, asking questions if they

don't understand what they do.

Emotional development: when the child express their feelings about the result they find

after finish doing this technique. Cognitive development: use their ideas, thoughts of who

to be creative. The right hemisphere of the brain controls sensory proccing and

expression. Developmentally appropriate language is a stick -create-design- the name of

color- color or paint- press. How linked this method to

Ad curriculum, this technique useful for many subjects like in Art: creativity and

imagination, hands-on experiences and opportunities with a variety of age-appropriate

literacy resources. In English: know new vocabulary and colors name- respond to texts by

making personal connections to a story through drawing or role play.

In Math: the child learns the different shapes like circle patterning. Also, engaging in

active learning experiences. In science: manipulate phonemes to generate new words

The four, it is a beautiful art technique called Marbling. The resources and

materials that we need to do this method are water colors drops plate- glitter -

Brush marble- cups. The Procedure & Classroom Tips of how to apply this

technique are. First, the student will work in groups. Second, Place the paper on the

plate. Third, drop the color in the paper by using drops or brush. Four, Drop the
marble in the plate. The last point is to roll the plate. The skills developed social

development when the child is working together in groups, a Physical development it

is about fine motor skill when they are using their hand to the role the plate and

mixed color by using marbling. Emotional skill, when the child exercises their feeling

about the result, they find after doing this activity. The developmentally appropriate

language the kids will learn new vocabulary that helps them to develop their

language, the words are colors name paper brush put drop roll glitter

mix. How to link this technique to AD a curriculum. According to Ad curriculum this

method its benefits in a different subject to kids such as in math: learn the name of a

number when they count the marble they want. In English: learning new vocabulary

like mix, roll, drop, and glitter that all help kids to develop their language knowledge

in second language acquisition In Art: create by using colors the different design. In

science: learn how to get new colors by mixing them. (ADEC Outcomes, n.d.)

The fifth point, it is interesting art technique called String painting. The recourses

and materials that we need to do this activity are scissors cup of water string

painting color and white or colored construction paper. Also, the procedure &

Classroom Tips that we need to a chive this technique is first, dip the string into the

water, remove the extra water from the string. Dip the string into the paint. Then,

close the paper to get two halves. Bring the paper and make a doodle. The last step is

lock the paper put your hand on the paper and pull the string out. The kids need to
make sure through doing this technique, and it is making sure not to keep the string

too much wet not to let the colors be too light. Second, remember not to paint the end

of the string which can help you to pull the string quickly without making a mess.

Third, be careful when you are pulling the string out, you must put your hand on the

paper to make sure that the colors are printed on the paper. Four, it's fun to have more

than one string with different colors pull strings out and open the paper to show your

colleagues a beautiful creation. (Peery, 2014). Skills developed are physical

development: fine motor skill, when the child using the string to move it inside the

paper. In science: the child will learn the colors name and how to mix color between

two colors. Social and emotional: discussion and sharing ideas through doing the

activity when the child communicates with each other if they do it right or wrong.

Linguistic: learning new words. Cognitive: the child will use their thinking to think

about how to apply this string in the paper. Developmentally appropriate language is

string doodle dip pull name of the colors. Also, I linked this technique to UAE

curriculum, according to ad curriculum it is the benefit for kids in many subjects such

as in Math: Learning the new line, shapes and design they find after doing this art

technique. In English develop their language by learning a new word and familiar

objects. Like string, scissors, painting color. Also, in English in part listening and

speaking: follow one step directions through games with rules. Listen and engage in

classroom conversation with a partner or with a small group. In Sciences: Earth, and

Space: Illustrate the characteristics of the seasons in the local area, day and night and
