A. What Is the Only Question That Matters on Easter
Sunday?
1. Did Jesus die on the cross and rise again?
2. If the answer is No there is no eternal hope for
anyone
3. If the answer is Yes this is the greatest day of
the year
B. What Proofs Do We Have That Christ Arose?
1. There are many and they are infallible
2. What are some of them?
a. The tomb that had been sealed and guarded
was found empty
b. The eyewitnesses testified
c. The church exists today
3. The greatest proofs of the resurrection are
changed lives
C. What Changes Were Made in the Eyewitnesses?

I. Their Lives Aims Were Changed (Acts


1:8)
1. The goals of the disciples before following Christ
were temporal
a. They wanted success in fishing or other
vocations
b. They wanted to gather what they could of this
worlds goods
2. The goals of the disciples after trusting Christ
were eternal
a. They wanted to learn more about Him to gain
more in His kingdom
b. Two of them wanted to sit on either side of
Him on His throne (Mark 10:37)
3. The goals of the disciples after the resurrection
were to be witnesses
a. They wanted to fulfill the great commission
(Matt. 28:1820)
b. They wanted to represent Christ to a lost and
troubled world
II. Their Anticipations About the Future
Changed (Acts 1:611)
1. One longed to know if this was the time to begin
the kingdom (v. 6)
2. Now they understood that Christ would return to
establish His kingdom
a. They must be busy about His business
b. They must win as many as possible while they
had time
c. They must live holy lives while awaiting His
return
(1 John 2:28)
3. They would spend their lives anticipating that
day

III. Their Attitudes Toward Each Other


Changed

1. They were now all of one accord
2. Roadblocks might have hindered this kind of
unity
a. Some of the disciples experienced failure:
Judas, Peter, Doubting Thomas
b. All had forsaken Christ at the cross and fled
3. Now they loved one another, forgave one
another, and changed the world
