NEO NOTO

January 16, 2017 NEW TENDENCY @ Meir und Meir

Press release
During the international furniture fair imm cologne, NEW TENDENCY is
presenting its 2017 product innovations from January 16 to 19 at the
Meir und Meir Factory. Among other things, it is presenting an
interpretation by Mike Meir of its DECEMBER floor lamp, which serves
to kick off its new premium product line NEW TENDENCY BLACK LABEL.

NEW TENDENCY develops contemporary objects of the everyday in the

Bauhaus tradition. Classics like the META side table, the CLICK boltless
shelving system or the MASA table are characterized by conceptual designs,
clear aesthetics and functional forms.

NEW TENDENCY furnishings thus serve to compose an ideal setting for

modern working environments, in which co-working spaces are gaining
relevance and increasingly requiring flexible new configurations. "People who
surround themselves with our furniture are inspired by it, not only in their
everyday lives, but also in their work", explains CEO and Creative Director
Manuel Goller. "Therefore it seemed logical for us to show our objects as a
case study for contemporary work in one of the leading creative agencies in
Germany."

Among other things, the Berlin based design studio is presenting its
DECEMBER EDITION at the Meir und Meir Factory. True to the spirit of the
co-working principle, this lamp originated from creative collaboration with Mike
Meir based on the original design. The Artist's Edition of the lamp serves as a
kick-off for launching the new premium line NEW TENDENCY BLACK LABEL,
which will soon be extended to include further exclusive pieces.

The DECEMBER EDITION is based on NEW TENDENCY's handcrafted

DECEMBER floor lamp. Three strictly geometrical components characterize
the lamp's iconic shape a massive cylindrical stand, a fine rod and a circular
lamp head. The original DECEMBER is made entirely of aluminium, which
serves to underscore the precision of the design language.

Based on the proposition "Brutalism x Redefining Natural", Mike Meir

contrasts the rationality of the design with an archaic, emotional moment. "In
the age of digitalization, products are becoming increasingly perfect and
increasingly iconic. On the other hand, there is a growing need for texture and
tactility", says Meir. He had the lamp's stand poured in raw concrete. As a
tribute to New Brutalism and its representatives such as Le Corbusier, the
structure of the concrete visualizes the process itself and breaks through the
serial character of the product. The lamp head and rod serve as additional
juxtapositions, for which Mike Meir has introduced four new tones in addition
to the original black and white brown, nude, a metallic green and a lemon
colour. This spectrum suggests naturalness and literally "grounds the originally
monochrome black design", as Mike Meir explains.

January 16, 2017 In addition to the new premium line, NEW TENDENCY is launching its
Press release MASA TABLE, MASA BENCH and ATLAS BARSTOOL series in new sand and
earth tones with ultra-matte finishes. The brand will also be presenting an
accessory for digital work tools for the first time in the form of a new laptop
stand. Within the framework of the presentation at the Meir und Meir
Factory, NEW TENDENCY's furnishings will not be treated as conventional
exhibits, but rather integrated in the everyday life of the agency as both a
working space and a meeting point.

All of NEW TENDENCY's products will be presented at the Meir und Meir
Factory in Kln-Ehrenfeld from January 16th to 19th (opening hours: 10:00 am
6:30 pm).
