Day 1

Learning Target (HOTs Skills): I will be able to understand the process of a courtroom trial. I will
be able to apply previous knowledge about the rights under the US Constitution to the mock
trail.

judicial system of the United States.

Explaining rights of citizens as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights under the Constitution of the
United States
Explaining what is meant by the term rule of law
Justifying consequences of committing a civil or criminal offense
Contrasting juvenile and adult laws at local, state, and federal levels (Alabama)

Before: Students will do a quick write on what they know able a courtroom. Who are the
different personnel in a courtroom? What is the process of a trial?

During: Mock trail packages will be handed out in class. Each person will be given a role to act
out in the mock trail. Students will begin to work on their script and packet for the mock trial.

After: Students will watch CNN 10 News if time permits. Current events for the week will be
discussed.

Assessment: Walk around and answering students questions.

Day 2
