Chapter Treasurer
Kyle Chang:
What makes AIAS meaningful to you?
It is an opportunity to foster connections with the broader Architecture community both locally and
nationally. I have had gained numerous experiences while being a member of AIAS including Forge
Quad, Mosaic Quad, and firm crawls that I otherwise would not have gained. These experiences have
informed and defined my perception of what Architecture is.

What are some past experiences / qualities that make you suited for your position of choice?
My family owns two restaurants, so handling money has always been a part of my life. I also have a lot
of experience with setting up events and advertising them to gain participants. These skills would be
advantageous in organizing events like the Napkin sketch which rely on participation to be successful. In
addition to my business upbringing, I have also grown up the owners son. I know how to connect with a
lot of people, so I am used to constantly communicating and relaying information to my father. In the
context of AIAS, I know nearly every freshman and sophomore as well as most upperclassman so I have
a solid connection with my peers.

How do you aspire to enhance our chapters presence and studio culture? (Strategies,
expectations and/or events)
I aim to connect with students on a personal bases. Getting to know people better and talking to them
about AIAS one on one or in groups is a very effective strategy of getting them to join. Studio culture
allows for these types of interactions, and people will join if they know more about it.

Is there anything else you would like us to know about you or our chapter? (Optional)
I appreciate the complexity of architecture and hope to one day apply my skills of design to create a
lasting impact on the world.

What makes AIAS meaningful to you?
Being involved in AIAS has connected me with so many amazing people and given me opportunities I
know would be a lot harder to get if I weren't involved in AIAS. Forming relationships not only within
PhilaU but also with firms, professionals, and AIAS groups outside of our chapter is extremely valuable
for networking and for gaining new points of view. AIAS has had a positive effect on me as a designer
and has allowed me to make a lot of great friends in my field.

AIAS allows me to expand my architectural knowledge and experience architecture in areas I didn't even
