LAUNCH X431 iDiag Users Manual
Precautions on operation
z The illustrations herein are for reference only and are subject
to change based on the Smart Device you are using and/ or
software updates.
z The instrument is a precision electronic instrument. Pay more
attention when in use, do not have it dashed.
z The equipment power is supplied by 12v battery voltage; do
not use other voltage power.
z Turn off the ignition switch when connect or disconnect the
diagnostic connector.
z Please put the connector in its place on the back of the
protective casing in order to avoid lost.
z Do not keep the connector Pin Connector plugged into your
vehicle overnight, be sure to always remove connector once
testing and/or diagnosis is complete. Failure to do so may
result in drained or weakened battery.
Precautions on operating vehicles ECU

z Do not disconnect the vehicle inner consume when the ignition
switch is on, so as to avoid the sensors or the ECU damage.
z Do not place the magnetic object near the ECU in order to
avoid the failure of the circuitry and components.
z Do cut off the power supply of ECU system before welding on
the vehicle.
z Pay more attention to the ECU and the sensors when the
operation is next to them.
z Ground yourself when you disassemble PROM, otherwise
ECU and sensors will be damaged by static electricity.
z Do connect ECU harness connector firmly, otherwise
electronic elements, such as IC inside ECU, will be damaged.

1 Overview
1.1 Product Introduction
X431 iDiag, based on iOS/Android operation system design,
research and development, is an internet vehicle trouble diagnosis
tester customized for mobile intelligent terminals. Through the
Bluetooth communication between diagnostic connector and variant
mobile intelligent terminals, it achieves x-431 serial product full
diagnostic functions. Meanwhile, taking the advantage of mobile
internet, it integrates more application and servicesuch as creating
maintenance data base and case library, providing instant
information, creative customer management function, etc. As a
result, it builds a broad vehicle diagnostic community, which helps
you to share vehicle maintenance knowledge online, exchange
maintenance experience online and vehicle maintenance related
service support online.

1.3 Features
z Most of the electronic system of vehicle, including Europe,
Asia, America and domestic models, can be detected;

z Bluetooth communication;
z Online download diagnostic software (single vehicle model or
combined software models). Many ways to pay, and many

2 Configuration and Structure

2.1 Product Configuration
In this series, it has different types of products; such X431 iDiag for
tablet PC, including iPad, iPad MINI, Samsung N8000. And X431
iDiag design for smart phone, including iOS and Android operation
system. See the following table.

z This product is NOT including iPad/iPad mini/Samsung
tablet PC.
z This product is NOT including smart phone.
z This product work under iOS, or Android system.

2.2 Structure

3 Connection and Installation

3.1 Connector Installation
NOTE: Do not keep X431 iDiag Pin Connector plugged into your
vehicle overnight, be sure to always remove connector once
testing and/or diagnosis is complete. Failure to do so may

result in drained or weakened battery.

Please locate and connect the connector OBD16 Pin connector to
your vehicles DLC(Diagnostic Link Connector). Once connected, the
connector will light up and beep. For the detail position, please refer
to corresponding vehicles repair manual.

3.2 Download and Install

X431 iDiag app is free to download in
Step 1: Turn on your smart terminals and link network well.
Step 2: Software store
Please go into Google Play (https://play.google.com/store) or other

software store, search for X431 iDiag, once found, download and
install it follow the on-screen instructions.

4 How to Use
Click X431 iDiag app software icon .
4.1 Initial Use

During the initial setup, you will see some illustrations that can guide
you to some operating features of software by sliding the screen to
left.
If the Bluetooth in your mobile phone is closed, you will be prompted

to open it for building a communication between iDiag and your cell
phone.
After then, the screen will pop up disclaimer, see Fig4.1.

Click on I have read it to enter the main interface, see Fig4.2.

Choose Dont show this again, the disclaimer will not appear next
time.

Click on Login on the upper right corner.

For existing users, fill in your username and password then click on
Login directly.
For new users, click on Register then fill in the required information
to create a new account. See Fig4.4

Once registered, you will see the screen below.

If you have more than one connector, please click on Register
Connector to add the serial number of the connector to your
account, which can also be done in 4.2 Register Connector as
well.
If not, click on No Connector to enter the main interface directly.
NOTE: When registration is successful, a confirmation letter

will be sent to your registered Email.

Vehicle origen selection, including China, Asia, Europe and
America
Vehicle brands, the icon means this cars diagnostic
software has not been downloaded, if you want to diagnose it, click
it to acquire the software.
Display switch button
If you dont have a DBScar, you can click DEMO icon to

get into the demo function interface, and experience the vehicle
diagnosis function
If you have already got a DBScar, please continue the registration.

4.2 Register Connector

NOTE: For a new connector, it can not be use until it has been
registered.
Go into Account then click on Register Connector

Input the Serial Number and Verification Code which are available in
the password envelope in the package.

4.3 Purchase Diagnostic Software

The icon means the diagnostic software has not been
downloaded, if you want to diagnose this car, please click it to
purchase and download the diagnostic software.
First, select the serial number of your connector, then select the
brand which you want. Here we take HONDA as an example.

Click on Add to Shopping Cart. Or you can purchase software

fixed package by clicking on Software Package, which contains

specified number of software.

After you click the space which marked in red circle in Fig4.11, it
would provide some useful information as in the Fig4.12, such as
diagnosis soft order name, order number, product serial number,
total price, order status, and order time.Please comfire those
information, and take a note about the order number which is the
most important.

PAYMENT: it supports payment on our web site and Pay with
PayPal, like Fig4.12. In the future, we will launch more type of
payment.
WARM TIPS:
z Payment done with RMB can only access Chinese
diagnostic software. Subsequent purchase with this serial

number must be paid in RMB only.

z Payment done with USD can access diagnostic software
of all developed languages. Subsequent purchase with
this serial number must be paid in USD only.

Input your PayPal account and Password and do the payment follow
the on-screen instructions.

After selected, system will jump into our web. See Fig4.14.

Use the Login name and password, which you have registered
before, which is same as X431 iDiag app login account.
After login successfully, the web page will include order information.
Please confirm the order information, especially for the order
number. See Fig4.15

Click on PAY, and conform purchasing the diagnosis software you

In the Fig4.17, there are two options, one is called which is
use for Chinese currency. The other one is PayPal, which for USD.
If you use USD to pay, Please select PayPal.

and password, and click on Continue. See Fig4.19.

DOWNLOAD: After made payment, screen dispaly will be back to
X431 iDiag app. If not, please move back to X431 iDiag app. And
click the diagnosis software icon which have already paid. See

4.4 Maintenance Database

Maintenance Database includes Technology handbook, Repair
Case and Programming Guidelines, etc.

In My Data you can see Reports, History, Orders and Shopping
Cart.

Diagnose playback
For playback of the Data Stream. First, select the desired Data
Stream, and then select the playback mode to play.

4.6 Whats New

To view the latest news of our company, market, product and
upgrade.

4.7 Customer Management

Before using this function, you need to bind the serial number of
product customized for car owner, which also developed by Launch,
such as golo, to this customer database.
NOTE: Launch-developed golo is a product customized for car

owner, through the Bluetooth communication between the
product and the intelligent device, people can self-diagnose
their own vehicle and upload the result through the network to
X431 iDiag. For information about product, please visit
http://mycar.x431.com.

Add Customer: Bind a new personal product (such as, golo) serial
number to X431 iDiag;
Customer Info: Manage customers messages, such as basic
messages, download histories, etc, and it also can set the mileage
for the next maintenance reminder.
Remote Diagnose: Receive diagnostic reports uploaded from golo
for remote diagnosis service.
Message Center: Push messages in return back to your customer

When the switch is set to ON, the initial interface will display the
manufacturer which had already download diagnostic software.

Click on your user name to enter IM page, see Fig5.1. As a social
tool, here you can find some new friends, send SMS, audio
messages, photos, publish your latest state in Microblog. Meanwhile,
you can build some circle where you can exchange ideas about
maintenance or communicate with your customer, etc.

6 Auto Diagnosis
The purpose of the illustrations here just for introducing the
diagnostic function, not for diagnose itself, if you are not familiar to
diagnose, please refer to the repair manual of the vehicle published
by manufactures, or ask for vehicle repair technicians help, etc.
NOTE: The operation would be varying with different vehicle
brands, please follow the on-screen instructions to operate.
6.1 Preparation
Before diagnosis, please confirm the following word has completed
1. Connector has been registered, see 4.2;

2. Diagnostic software has been downloaded. see 4.3

3. Connector has been linked with vehicle, see 3.2
6.2 Diagnose
First select the desired brand, if the Serial Number did not selected,
you will be prompted to pair Bluetooth, do it once prompted.
Here we take Demo as an example.
Once selected, you will be prompted to choose software version,
and in here you can also Check Latest Version.

Click on Demo, the screen will display system selection interface,

Click on to quit Demo.

Click on Engine, when the system initialize is completed, the screen

Click on Read Trouble Code, the screen will display diagnostic

B. Clear Trouble Code

Click on Clear Trouble Code, the system will automatically delete
the Current exist trouble code. See Fig5.7.

Note: the Trouble Code would not disappear until the trouble
was ruled out.
C. Read Data Stream
Click on Read Data Stream, the screen will display DataStream
item, see Fig5.8; check the circle before the desired item then click
on Confirm, or click on Select All to select the all Data Stream.
Click on to return to the previous interface

When communication is completed, the system will display the data
value, see Fig5.9.
Click on any one of the item, you can see the specified waveform.
