COMM 211 Group Meetings for Third Speech

The Third Speech Requirements:

The third Speech is an informative speech on a current


relevant topic. It should be 3-4 minutes in length. Six ARC
sources are required, four of which are used in the speech.
Visual aid is required. You may use power point, objects, flip
charts, or posters. Nothing is to be handed out during the
speech. Visual aids must add to the speech and should be
used within the speech. No video of more than 10 seconds
can be used. A bibliography must be included with your full
sentence outline, which will be turned in prior to your
speaking.

Preparing for the speech:

You are to meet with your assigned group on Wednesday


February 22. The preliminary outline and Group Meeting
Report are to be turned in on Monday March 6, 2917.

Speakers Responsibilities:
I. Be prepared to describe your topic
A. Why do you believe this topic is appropriate for the
assignment?
B. How do you plan to adapt this topic to the class
(your audience)?
C. Where do you plan to get information for the
speech?
Remember you must have six ARC sources, four of
which must be stated in the speech.
II. What changes do you intend to make after discussing
your topic?
A. Write a brief paragraph about how the group
influenced you on your topic.
B. Provide at least 2 sources you will consider for your
speech.
Use correct Bibliography format (see page 135)
Groups Responsibilities:
I. Be on time and follow the guidelines for this meeting.
A. Allow each member to describe his/her topic.
B. Offer respectful advice to help the speaker craft a
better speech.
C. Have an open discussion of the topic.
II. Briefly explain the changes the group suggested for each
speech.

Final Report of activity:


I. Turn in a 1 or 2 page typed paper in which you have two
sections.
A. Section 1 is the paragraph on your topic.
B. Section 2 is the changes the group has offered for
each speaker in the group.
C. Turn this in on Monday, March 6.
