Developed occupancy state estimation methods using machine learning techniques by
fusing multi-modal sensor data streams.
Wireless Sensor Networks as a Platform Technology: Innovation Needs Assessment Study
Study examined the current research landscape, research literature, business contexts
and commercial offerings in the area of wireless sensor networks to identify barriers,
opportunities and gaps for WSN in energy management and related application areas.

Ph.D. Thesis: Ranging and Positioning in Wireless Sensor Networks
Demonstrated by simulations the use of ultra-wide band (UWB) pulses appended to the
communication packets for high-precision ranging.

Developed a distributed localization algorithm using convex relaxation techniques.
Developed a directional beacon-based positioning algorithm and implemented it on USRP
hardware test bed using the GNU Radio software.
Masters Thesis: Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks under NLOS Propagation Envi-
ronments
Demonstrated a time-of-arrival (TOA)-based ranging algorithm and a robust location
algorithm for countering non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios.

Implemented a fast image processing algorithm for wavelet-domain reconstruction of lost
blocks during wireless transmission.
Implemented a pulse-echo ranging based scheme for distance and velocity estimation of
a moving target.
