Using Heavier Metal

12 Reasons Why Foster Cold Stores
are Superior to any other

Foster has been maintaining its record of manufacturing the strongest walk-in coolers by using the heaviest metal. Foster is using 24-
gauge galvanized steel sheets that are white polyester powder-coated.
Galvanized Steel Sheets With 120-micron Polyester Paint Vs. 10 Micron Powder Coated Steelz
Foster Cold Store is the only company in Pakistan that is using the most modern technology of galvanized steel sheets with a 120-
micron powder coating. Polyester powder paint is electro-statically applied to the galvanized steel sheets and then baked at 230 C.
This process not only increases the life of coolers 5 times but also gives an elegant white textured look to the coolers. Most of the
companies are using 10 to 20 micron pre-panted steel which can be rusted with a little scratch.
No Wood In Door, Frame And Floors
Most companies are still using the old technology of placing small pieces of wood and plywood inside the door and doorframe for
various purposes. In a permanently moist environment, deterioration, bending, and expansion of wood starts after some time and
customers are forced to replace the doors within few years.
Fiberglass Instead of Plastic
Most companies are using metal and plastic in the manufacturing of doors and frames (door jambs and plugs), whereas Foster is using
metal and fiberglass, which is most hi-tec thermal breaker in the industry. Fiberglass reduces the thermal conductivity to the best
level. Additionally, the strength of fiberglass is many times more than that of plastic.
Space Shuttle Insulation Vs Coffee Cup Insulation
NASA is using Polyurethane in space shuttles as an insulation material .Foster is also using polyurethane in manufacturing of walk-in
coolers and freezers. Whereas most of the new companies are using cheap insulation material called polystyrene (AK-Green Dot EPS),
which is most commonly used as packaging material or in manufacturing of coffee cups. With the lowest k-factor and the highest R-
value, polyurethane foam can provide more thermal resistance than any other insulation material on earth. These values are
confirmed by the US Department of Energy and disprove all the misconceptions. A brief comparison of both materials is available at

questions.
Speediest delivery
Most of the standard Foster cold store and walk in coolrs are shipped from Foster's factory within two weeks after the confirmation of
an order.
Lowest Price
Foster customers are buying very high end walk-in coolers made of polyurethane and galvanized painted steel, but paying as little as
they would for a walk-in cooler made from inexpensive polystyrene.
Aluminum Floors Without Plywood Support
Most of the manufacturers are pasting very thin Aluminum on plywood to make their floors which eventually deteriorate due to
moisture in the cooler. Whereas Foster is using 10 gauge Aluminum in floors which is strong enough to take all kind of load without
any support.
Customers Get Their Investment Back Over Time Due To Highest R Value Of Polyurethane
As R-value of polyurethane is highest as compare to any any other material on earth , Foster customers recover all the money
invested in walk-in cooler within few years by savings in electricity bill as compare to polystyrene made walk-in coolers.
Warranty
Foster walk-in coolers and freezers come with a fifteen-year waranty on panels to cover any manufacturing defect. There is a standard
one year warranty on all the refrigeration components.

Ten times more resistance against corrosion and rust.

All other telecom shelter manufacturers are using galvanized steel sheet which is pre-
painted with only 20-micron polyester. A scratch on these shelters can cause rust and
corrosion, over the period of time. Foster is using the same pre-painted galvanized sheet,
but an additional coat of 120-micron polyester powder paint is electrostatically applied to
the sheet. This paint is baked at 230 C at Fosters own powder coating plant. This texture
finish 120-micron layer of polyester paint provides ten times more resistance against
corrosion and rust as compared to other manufacturers. Any shelter sold in Pakistani market
has the same quality and material as in shelters which are exported to USA.
PRODUCTS
International standards to protect clients equipment from water leakage
A leakproof thermoplastic membrane is installed on the roof of every shelter. It eliminates any possibility of water leakage into
the shelter. An additional second roof, which is made of corrugated metal sheet and U-channels is also installed on top of the
thermoplastic membrane for further safety. In order to protect expensive equipment of their clients, no other manufacturer in
Pakistan is taking three steps for safety measures against water leakage from the roof. Some manufacturers are using fiberglass
canopy to cover the roof. Fiberglass can be affected by ultraviolet and infrared rays under direct sun light which may cause
deterioration after sometime.

PVC Gasket instead of Silicon (International standard to keep the electric bill at same level)
A bulb type PVC gasket is molded into the foam on all male panels which creates a permanent airtight and water proof seal without the need of silicon. It has
been proved in the international market that filling of silicon in between panels is a temporary measure to keep the shelter airtight. Over the period of time,
direct sunlight dries out the silicon and tiny holes are created. These holes cause a continuous leakage of cooling from the shelter and the electric bill keeps going
up with the age of shelter. No other manufacturer in Pakistan is using PVC gasket due to which their customers will be losing money on operational cost in long
the run.

Diaphragmatic cam-lock system. (International Standard) Interconnected by steel strip structure all around
the shelter can resist wind storm. Other manufacturers are using the following two techniques for the assembly of shelters:
(a)Riveting system, in which all wall, ceiling and floor panels are assembled by using thousands of rivets.(b)Floating cam-lock system, in which cam-locks are
floating in polyurethane foam and the use of a little extra force during assembly can pull the locks out of the panels. There is no solid support that can hold the
cam-locks securely in case of wind storm.
The Foster diaphragmatic cam-lock system is bolstered by steel strips welded between male and female cam-locks in all panels, before injection of polyurethane.
When assembling of all the panels is completed, the entire shelter is interconnected by metal strip structure through diaphragmatic cam-lock system. This gives
extra strength to the entire structure of the shelter and enables it to sustain a wind velocity of 200 km/hour with ease.

No Rivets, only Cam locks

Foster is not using a single rivet during assembling of the shelter. With a true CAM-Action, our steel cam-locks pull the panels together
compressing the 100% Poured-In-Place Polyurethane Tongue and Groove panel edges creating a tight seal without the need for silicone,
fillers or adhesives. Our cam-locks will not pull out if over-tightened or loosen over time. Our panel-to-panel joint will remain tight for as
long as you own your shelter.
PRODUCTS
Earthquake proof shelters with four separate corner panels
Foster shelters are engineered according to the international pre-fabricated building specifications. In order to keep the shelter earthquake-proof, four corner
panels are used which are interlocked to the wall, ceiling and floor panels.

Floors can take more load than any other Shelter manufacturer
Foster floors are insulated with polyurethane and small wooden blocks. The bottom of the floor is 120-micron pre-painted steel sheet. Wooden blocks are
placed on top of the metal sheet at equal distances. Size of each block is 3 x 4. A 19 mm marine plywood sheet is placed on the top of these wooden blocks,
which makes a 75 mm empty space in between the bottom metal sheet and the plywood. Polyurethane is injected into the floor to fill the space. The wooden
blocks and the polyurethane insulation together support the plywood. This way, the floor can take a load of 2000 lb/m3 with an ease. In some of the local and
imported shelters being used in Pakistan, only 19 mm plywood is used in the floors. No polyurethane insulation is used to support the plywood. If heavy
equipment is placed on this kind of floor for a long period of time, it can cause settlement of floor, which can lead to serious damages.

Quick assembly
Foster shelters can be erected within approximately 6 hours using the speed-lock system. Since other manufacturers are using rivets also for assembly, it takes
much longer to assemble the shelter.

Save 25% on Electricity Bill with 100% Insulated Shelters

All Floors, Ceilings and Wall panels in Foster shelters are insulated by polyurethane which makes it a 100% insulated shelter. Whereas some of the local and
imported shelters have insulation in Ceilings and Wall panels only. They do not have any insulation in floors, which makes these shelters only 70% insulated. A
non-insulated floor causes a continuous loss of cooling, therefore the air conditioning unit has to work harder to maintain the temperature inside the shelter.
It has been proved that a 100% insulated shelter saves 25% electric bill as compared to 70% insulated shelter. Foster shelter pays back its original cost to the
client over the period of few years by saving electric bill. While the other shelters keep adding extra operational cost during the entire period of their life span.

Installation of shelters and after-sales services

Foster installation team is capable of taking any challenge during rapid roll out of any telecom projects. Foster professionals are available
24 hours during installation of their projects. We are already installed telecom shelters from tribal areas of Pakistan to Karachi.

Foster is capable of manufacturing 30mm thick panels to 300mm thick panels. Panels are made of foamed-in-place polyurethane
insulation, sandwiched between interior and exterior metal skins which is die formed and gauged for uniformity in size. All panels are
built to NSF specifications.

Aluminum Floors
Floors are designed to readily withstand a uniformly distributed load of 700 lb per sq ft. In the manufacturing of floor. 2.5mm
Aluminum sheet is used on the top of four inches polyurethane insulation. In case no floor is required, then a 4" high screed is
provided. Screeds are nailed or screwed to the floor through the center during assembling.

120 Micron Polyester painted steel sheets:

Foster Refrigerators is the only company in the region that is using 120-micron polyester paint on galvanized steel sheets.120-
micron polyester powder paint is electro-statically applied on 24-gauge sheets and then baked at 40oF. This process is to make sure
that Foster panels have a life10 times longer than those of any other manufacturer in the region. This process also gives an elegant
texture to the cold store.
PRODUCTS
Permanent Plastic Locking Devices
Locking devices consist of plastic cam locks that are foamed in place and are attached to the interior skins of the panels. These
locking devices are not floating in urethane, unlike those found in the rest of the industry, but are permanently fixed to the skin. Cam
locks can be moved by a hex wrench, which is provided by Foster. Access holes for locking devices are on the interior sides of the
panels to allow easy assembly of the walk-in coolers from the inside. Access holes for locking devices are covered by snap caps.

PVC Gaskets
To keep the cooler airtight and dust proof, PVC gaskets are foamed in place to the male sides of the panels, on both the interior and
the exterior.

Door and Frame Panels

The door is has a posi-steel door closure and latch. Two strap-type cam-lift hinges are provided. The doorjamb is made of fiberglass.
An isolated, low wattage heater strip covered by magnetic stainless steel is fitted onto the jamb in freezers. This strip proves to be the
perfect sealing of the magnetic gas kit and prevent frost and condensation build-up. Concealed wiring is standard on each entrance
door. A threshold with non-skid striping is provided with each door section. The heater wire continues beneath the threshold in the
freezer. A thermometer is included in each door section to indicate the inside temperature.
