Praxis Core Exam Analysis

It is required for me to pass the Praxis Core Exam, which is the academic skills test for

educators, in the state of Nevada before I can be accepted into the education program at UNLV,

NSC, or UNR for my Bachelors degree in Education. I will need to take this test at one of the

testing centers in Las Vegas. There are options for me to study the content of the test online. The

passing score for Math is 150, Reading is 156, and Writing is 162 based on the information

found on at www.ets.org/praxis/nv/requirements. If I fail a portion of the test, I can retake the test

after 21 days of the previous test date(ets.org).

I prepared for this test by reading about the exam and going over the practice questions

for math and writing offered online at ets.org and www.teacherstestprep.com. These questions

and reviews are similar to the test questions that I needed to know to be successful. I did all of

the practice questions and reviewed the answers for the math test. I did most of the practice

questions for the writing test, but I did skip some of them. For the reading section, I glanced over

the questions, but I did not spend much time on them as I thought I would be able to pass that

section easier. I felt that I am a good reader and usually I am able to comprehend the ideas of

written work. Unfortunately, the test was much more difficult than I anticipated.

The results that I received were very surprising to me. I thought I would have done better

in writing and reading, and worse in math as it is my worse subject of the three. I got an 88% in

math, which means I am likely to pass the actual test. In reading I got an 59%, which tells me I
need improvement in that section if I am going to pass the official test. The last test I took is

writing, and I got an 71%, which says that I am borderline of passing or failing the real test.

I will need to study more in the reading and writing sections to ensure that I will be able

to pass the official test. I plan to purchase an online program to help me prepare for the test. I

will also plan to take as many practice test as I can to get familiar with the testing questions. I

will also review the study sections for math as well, to make sure I will pass the test the first

time. The best step for me is to study and practice the test contents so I can make sure I

completely understand all areas of the test. I think this will guarantee the success in passing this

required test.
