Fire Detection and Alarm Systems

Fire Alarm system

A fire alarm system is designed to detect the unwanted presence
of fire by monitoring environmental changes associated with
combustion.
System Components May
Operate:
Mechanical
Hydraulic
Pneumatic
Electrical
Types Of Fire Alarm Systems
Manual System
Semi-Automatic System
Automatic System
Types Of Fire Alarm Systems
Manual System
Most basic type is designed to only be initiated manually
known as a local system or protected premises (pull station &
bell)
Typically, this system is expanded to include fire detection
devices to sense the presence of a fire and initiate a signal
Types Of Fire Alarm Systems
Automatic System
Automatic fire alarm systems can be used to notify people to
evacuate in the event of a fire or other emergency, to summon
emergency forces aid, and to prepare the structure and
associated systems to control the spread of fire and smoke.

Addressable Devices
System Sensor provides a design guideline and product
specifications allowing Secutron to design hardware and software
to communicate with Secutrons Intelligent Devices.
Up to 99 Intelligent Sensors and 99 Modules, (total of 198
devices) on a single pair of wires.
Device addressing is accomplished by rotating two decade
switches built into each device.
The software in the fire alarm panel communicates and processes
information sent back by the devices. This determines:
alarm points of detectors
dirty levels
when monitor modules are in alarm
control module activation
Wiring problems are also communicated through the panel
software.

Networking
Secutron with its network expertise developed a system with true
network capability
Up to 254 MODUL-R Control or Annunciator Units can be
interconnected
- Using Style "7" wiring
One MODUL-R control unit will be software assigned as the Master
control unit
- No special hardware for master or head end required
Network system can easily be reconfigured at any time.
- Any control unit can be reconfigured as a Master
On loss of network communication each MODUL-R control unit will
operate independently
- Uploads events to history/audit trail when communication
restores
