Competency 001: The teacher understands human development

processes and applies this knowledge to plan instruction and

ongoing assessment that motivate students and are responsive to
their developmental characteristics and needs.

Competency 001 is stating that all students learn different and teachers understand that.
Teachers need to fix their lesson plans and the way they teach to where all students can
understand how to learn, so they can continuing on wanting to learn instead of giving up.

Competency 002: The teacher understands student diversity and

knows how to plan learning experiences and design assessments that
are responsive to differences among students and that promote all
students learning.
Competency 002 is stating that teachers need to understand ever student is different and
thats what makes a person to be able to be the best of their ability. Teachers being able to
help the students can be able to at least make them feel comfortable enough to ask for help.

Competency 003: The teacher understands procedures for designing

effective and coherent instruction and assessment based on
appropriate learning goals and objectives.

Competency 003 is stating that teachers need to understand what is expected to be taught to
the students. Teachers should know the TEKS and be able to make a lesson plan to be taught
to well enough that every student understands that way.

Competency 004: The teacher understand learning processes and

factors that impact student learning effective student learning and
demonstrates this knowledge by planning effective, engaging
instruction and appropriate assessments.
Competency 004 states that students learn better when they are having fun and something
catching their attention. The more teachers show excitement in the lesson or activity their
doing, the more the kids will want to participate or have something to say.
Competency 005: The teacher knows how to establish a classroom
climate that fosters learning, equity and excellence and uses this
knowledge to create a physical and emotional environment that is
safe and productive.
Competency 005 is stating that a student need to feel like they are in a safe environment. The
classroom needs to have a comfortable environment for when the child walks in they arent
stressing about anything in the class and they can be able to clear their mind for learning.

Competency 006: The teacher understands strategies for creating an

organized and productive learning environment and for managing
student behavior.
Competency 006 is stating that an organized classroom results in an easier learning
environment. When the students pick up on the daily routine it makes them more relaxed,
instead of having to deal with instructions being changed every time they walk in the room.

Competency 007: The teacher understands and applies principles

and strategies for communicating effectively in varied teaching and
learning contexts.
Competency 007 is stating that not all students learn the same material the same way. The
teachers responsibility is to teach the students the material the way they need to for the students
to understand. However, the teacher has to be able to teach it anyway it needs to be taught to be
understood.

Competency 008: The teacher provides appropriate instruction that

actively engages students in the learning process.
Competency 008 is stating that the teachers are to engage the students in the material being
taught throughout the years theyre in school.
Competency 011: The teacher understands the importance of family
involvement in childrens education and knows how to interact and
communicate effectively with parents.
Competency 011 is stating that teachers need to be able to give out important information to
the students and their parents, but be able to be reliable to interact with the students and parents
if needed.

Competency 012: The teacher enhances professional knowledge and

skills by effectively interacting with other members of the
professional community and participating in various types of
professional activities.
Competency 012 is stating that teachers communicate better when they participate with each
other work to make them better teachers. No matter what the subject being taught is teachers
discussing how they provide information to the students and how they teach the rest of their
teaching styles help others.

Competency 013: The teacher understands and adheres to legal and

ethical requirements for educators and is knowledgeable of the
structure of education in Texas.
Competency 013 is stating that the teacher is required to know what has to be taught and is
expected in the classroom. The teachers also have to be aware of the laws from the State of
Texas.
