The students will learn how to execute proper acrylic painting strategies and how to use Aurasma
software. The students will use creative thinking and problem solving to create a acrylic painting with
an overlaid Aurasma animation that shows changes in nature.

1. Introduction/Motivation:

The teacher will explain the project and introduce Aurasma to the students.
2. Guided Practice
The students will download Aurasma and get into groups to experiment with Aurasma using the
website and their phone to understand the purpose of the app.
3. Independent Practice
In their groups, students will work together to create their own example Aurasma animation.
4. Closure
The teacher will explain that the next class period they will be creating sketches their painting and for
their final Aurasma animation. The teacher will encourage students to continue exploring the Aurasma
site on their own and return with any questions.
5. Formative Evaluation
The teacher will check to insure all students working effectively in groups and that each group has
completed an example Aurasma animation.
The teacher will help facilitate the lesson and answer any questions or concerns about the assignment.
1. Introduction/Motivation:
The teacher will show a slide-show presentation that features artists work that represents nature.
2. Guided Practice
The teacher will meet with each student individually in order for the students to present their ideas for
their acrylic nature painting and Aurasma animation.
3. Independent Practice
Students will work to complete their sketches for their painting and their Aurasma animations.
4. Closure
The teacher will inform the students that their sketches must be completed by the beginning of the next
class meeting. The teacher will explain that the stds. will begin creating their paintings the next class
period.

The teacher will monitor students progress on the completion of their sketches. The teacher will also
work with students one-on-one to ensure that they have acceptable designs that meet requirements and
provide suggestions on how to make improvements if needed.

2. Guided Practice
The teacher will begin the class with an acrylic painting demo video. The teacher will give a short
demo on painting tips and suggestions.

The teacher will explain that students will have one additional day to complete their paintings.

The teacher will monitor students progress on the completion of their paintings. The teacher will also
work with students one-on-one to ensure that they have acceptable designs that meet requirements and

Have classroom arranged for painting demos and walk around and monitor students progress. All
workstations will be cleaned and all supplies put away.

The teacher will begin the class with an art walk, so that the stds. can compare their photoshop work
and discuss what works and what doesnt.

paintings completed by then.

Monitor groups during peer reviews. All workstations will be cleaned and all supplies put away.

devices if necessary, but must create an individual animation.

The teacher will announce that the students will need to have their animations completed by the end of
next class.

Students will aim to be half way finished with their Aurasma animation by the end of class.

6. Classroom Management Procedures
Show the students Aurasma tutorial and walk through class and assist students when they need help.

The teacher will announce that students will have a peer review during class and will be working on
their animations.
2. Guided Practice
The teacher will walk around the class and monitor students work.
3. Independent Practice
Students will meet with a partner at the start of class and give tips to each other. The students will
continue to work on their animations.
4. Closure
The students will announce have their animations completed so they can present them next class.
5. Formative Evaluation
Teacher will make sure students have animation finished by end of class and meet with their peer
during class.
1. Introduction/Motivation:
The teacher will inform the students that there will be a class critique.
2. Guided Practice
The teacher will have all of the students hand their work on the wall and open the Aurasma app.
3. Independent Practice
The students will walk around the room using the Aurasma app on each painting to see the animations
of their classmate. The students can walk in groups if they need to share electronic devices. The

students will then participate in class critique.
4. Closure
Teacher will ask students what they learned from this project and answer any questions.
5. Formative Evaluation
The teacher will help facilitate conversations for critique and make sure students are participating.
