damaged.
The user does not have to come to the library to use the information.
Digital libraries have the potential to store much more information.

Many users can use the same document together.

To convert digital library, there should be hardware software as well as


internet facility and library has a limited fund.
Must be trained staff and have technical skills.

DIGITIZATION IN LIBRARIES
Digitization is the process of converts print sources into digital form where
they can be stored and maintained bt a computer. Also known as imaging or
scanning is the means of converting

undertaken by taking digital photographs of the source records, where
appropriate.
A more precise definition is: the storage, maintenance and accessibility of a
digital documents over the long term, usually as a consequence of applying
one or more digital preservation strategies. These strategies may include
technology preservation, technology emulation or data migration.

Seclection of documents

First of all for digitization, it is planning what types of document should be selected
like rare books, research material, lecture material etc. and this selection is done
according to researcher and users interest.
Technical requirement and implementation

After selecting, there are a number of technical requirements for scanning the
documents. when the document is replaced by a OCR scanning convert into the
image. After this the formatting, encoding, and compression of the data.

Legal issue

At the time of digitization, many legal issues have to face like copy right, IPR,
authenticity, legal deposit.

Budget/ fund

Creating a digital collection requires a lot of fund. Along with this budget is also
required for staff
Training, new equipment, storage medium etc.

Planning of HRM

According to the digital library there should be a trained staff in the library. Staff
educated, experience, new skills, technical skills, so that thay can provide good
services to the user. According to the changing environment staff should also
attend workshop, seminar, conference so that they can develop good skills.

Preservation of digital resources

There are many challenges to preserve digital content-:
