PSU INTERVIEW GUIDANCE

Hello Everyone

First of all congratulations for getting interview call from PSUs. Those who
didnt got call shouldnt stop putting effort and prepare well for next year.

From my experience following important points should be kept in mind for PSU
interviews:

1) See the products being made by company.

2) How company makes that product.
3) Complete chain of processing from raw material to final product.
4) From where raw material is bought and to whom product is sold.
5) Share price of company.
6) See website of company.
7) Important key persons of company.
8) Wikipedia page of company will give lot of information.
9) Prepare important subjects for company. For example fluid mechanics is
important for oil companies.
10) For any subject you should know practical applications of that
subject in company. For example in fluid mechanics prepare pump
curves , important definitions , how to choose pump and turbine for
company, know range of values of different parameter that will apply in
real life like range of specific speed or power range etc.
11) Get idea of work profile that you will get. It will give a good
impression that you are interested in job.
12) Why you want to join this PSU and not some other PSU.
13) Where you look yourself in company after 5 years.
14) Will you go to some remote location(ex. Jammu and Kashmir) if
posted.
15) Why you have low cgpa.
16) Why you chose Mechanical Engineering.
17) Why there is gap after B.tech.
18) Why not MBA or GRE.
19) Why not private sector when money is more in private.
20) Form your opinions on social issues like women empowerment ,
Government policies , Important developments in science.
21) What changes you would like to suggest in working of PSU to bring
them in competition with private sector.
22) Prepare questions on hobbies.
23) What are your strength and weakness.
24) Get idea of trainings and project you did in college.
25) Why you dont want to do research when you have so good
academic record.
26) Questions about places you have lived in past.
27) Why B.tech from not so good college.

Above questions are based on my experience of UPSC ESE Interview and PSU
interviews. It is to give you an idea of how questions are asked in interviews.
You can make your own questions by getting an idea from above questions.

Confidence is must during interviews. All the people attending interview will
have good knowledge but your confidence will help you to get selected.

Language is not a barrier during interviews. It will depend on your confidence

level. Well prepared answers for mistakes done is past can help you to get
selected.

Take your CV with you. It will help you to face questions related to your CV and
you can avoid random questions.
