1) For each of the following flows, use the Moody Chart to find
the Darcy friction factor
the associated frictional losses associated
the fraction of the total pipe length is not fully developed?
The pressure drops associated with the frictional losses in each of these flows?

a) 1km long pipe with an inner radius of 15 cm transporting an oil =850kgm-3, =30 cP
(centipoise) at a mass flow rate of 250kgs-1 in a new stainless steel pipe. What fraction of the
total pipe length is not fully developed?
b) A 300m long 0.5m diameter pipe transports water at 200 kg/s. The pipe walls are made of
riveted steel.
c) Glycerin =1260kgm-3, =1.5kgm-1s-1 is transported at 0.0250kgs-1 in a 1m long plastic
drawn tube of inner radius of 3mm.
