Description:
Induction heating is a non contact heating technique to produce
very high temperature in each application and appropriate frequency
must be used depending on the work piece geometry n skin depth
requirement. Induction heating (IH) has been a part of high-power
applications and is widely used in the industrial, office automation and
electric home appliance fields[1]. In all of these cases, there is an
important need for optimal design and reduction in EMI
(electromagnetic interference). As a result, Induction Heating systems
should be based on resonant converters to reduce the EMI
(electromagnetic interference) effects. However, with the increasing
application of Induction Heating (IH) systems in various fields, concerns
about the harmonic effects and power quality of the power grid have
been involved in the problems facing network operation engineers.[3]

Methodology:

Three things are essential to implement induction heating:

1. A source of High Frequency electrical power,

2. A work coil to generate the alternating magnetic field,

3. An electrically conductive workpiece to be heated,

Source of high frequency electricity is used to drive a large

alternating current through a coil. This coil is known as the work coil.
The passage of current through this coil generates a very intense and
rapidly changing magnetic field in the space within the work coil. The
workpiece to be heated is placed

process
Within this intense alternating magnetic field. The alternating
magnetic field induces a current flow in the conductive workpiece. The
arrangement of the work coil and the workpiece can be thought of as
an electrical transformer. The work coil is like the primary where
electrical energy is fed in, and the workpiece is like a single turn
secondary that is short-circuited. This causes tremendous currents to
flow through the workpiece. These are known as eddy currents.an
impedance matching network is often required between the High
Frequency source and the work coil in order to ensure good power
transfer. The high frequency used in induction heating applications
gives rise to a phenomenon called skin effect. This skin effect forces
the alternating current to flow in a thin layer towards the surface of the
workpiece. The skin effect increases the effective resistance of the
metal to the passage of the large current. Therefore it greatly increases
the heating effect caused by the current induced in the workpiece. [2]

Emi (electro magnetic interference)= radio-frequency interference (RFI) =is a disturbance
generated by an external source that affects an electrical circuit by electromagnetic induction,
electrostatic coupling, or conduction.

Harmonic voltages and currents in an electric power system are a result of non-linear electric
loads. ... Harmonics in power systems result in increased heating in the equipment and
conductors

A phase-locked loop (PLL) generates an output signal whose phase is related to the phase of
an input signal.

is an electronic circuit with a voltage or voltage-driven oscillator that constantly adjusts to match
the frequency of an input signal. PLLs are used to generate, stabilize, modulate, demodulate,
filter or recover a signal from a "noisy" communications channel where data has been
interrupted
