Product Description:
This phone case is designed to combat the lack of a 3.5mm female port in the iPhone 7th
generation and newer. The phone case houses a bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female port piece of
hardware (7) along with a lithium battery (8) to provide power to the hardware. This allows the
user to use 3.5mm male jack headphones with the iPhone 7th generation or newer without the
use of an external adaptor cord.

Figures 1-5 show the design of the phone case itself to house both the phone, the
bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female port piece of hardware (7), and a lithium battery (8). The
case needs to fit the design constraint of the phone itself. To accomplish this, there are holes in
the edges and bottom of the case to allow for buttons and ports on the phone (volume up, volume
down, ringer switch, power, lightning port, and speaker ports) to be easily accessible.

Additionally, as seen in Figures 1-3, a hole (3) is made large enough to allow for the camera and
LED flash to have no obstructions from the case. Lastly, to ensure that the phone case properly
holds a phone, there is a raised lip (2) to encompass the phone and prevent it from easily falling
out. This is easily visible in Figures 1, 2, and 4. These features all ensure that a phone can
function to its potential and isnt hindered by the phone case.

In addition to holding the phone, the case is designed to house a bluetooth receiver to
3.5mm female port piece of hardware (7) and a lithium battery (8) which is shown in Figure 6.
Both the hardware (7) and the battery (8) will be held in the same housing compartment (1)
which is easily visible in Figures 1 and 2. However, in order to ensure that the surface of the case
is flush on the side touching the phone, an extension (4) is built in the back of the case as shown
in Figures 1, 3, and 4 to counteract the thickness of the bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female port
piece of hardware (7) and a lithium battery (8). As seen in Figure 4, to bridge the gap in
elevation between the extension (4) and the lower back of the phone case, there is an S curve to
allow for comfort when holding the phone without extending the thickness of the extension (4)
throughout the back of the case. To create a flush surface touching the phone, a cover will go
over the housing compartment (1) to contain the hardware (7) and battery (8) within. This cover
will be held in place with an epoxy. These features will ensure that the technology in the case
will be able to function unhindered in a secure location that provides the most comfort for users
while avoiding a thick case throughout.

The contents of the housing department include a bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female
port piece of hardware (7) and a lithium battery (8) as previously mentioned which can be easily
seen in Figure 6. The lithium battery (8) provides power to the bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm
female port piece of hardware (7) and is charged through the micro USB female port (9)
mounted on the hardware (7) as shown in Figures 7-9. The bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female
port piece of hardware (7) receives bluetooth that is transmitted from the phone housed by the
case. The hardware (7) then converts the information received by bluetooth into information that
can be outputted through the 3.5mm female port (10). This is where a users headphones can be
plugged in to avoid the use of a separate adaptor. In order to turn on the phone case, there is a
power button (11) which is located on the bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm female port piece of
hardware (7) as seen in Figure 7. There will be a hole in the housing compartment (1) to allow
for this button to be pressed from the back of the case. This provides all of the functionalities to
the phone case, allowing it to serve its purpose in avoiding additional adaptors for music playing.

Once a phone is inserted in the case, the power button (11) on the case will need to be
activated to start up the case. This can be done by pressing and holding the button (11) for
roughly 5 seconds. On the first use of the case, the user will need to bluetooth pair his/her phone
to the case. The case can be turned into bluetooth search mode by pressing and holding the

power button (11) for roughly 7 seconds rather than the 5 seconds to simply turn on the hardware
(7). Once the phone and case are paired together, headphones can now be inserted through the
3.5mm female port (10). As the battery (8) drains from the case, it can be charged by putting a
micro USB male jack into the micro USB female port (9). Overall, this case will provide the
iPhone 7th generation or newer with a way to play music through a 3.5 mm female port which is
a function only attainable through various adaptors previously.
