ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

- I acted in a professional manner throughout my field experience and always maintained a positive
attitude towards teaching. !
- I interacted with my students in a friendly, democratic manner and took the time to get to know
them on an individual level!
- I spoke clearly and concisely when giving instructions, and corrected the students grammar/
spelling when needed!
- I made an effort to be involved in the school, participating in fundraisers, staff meetings etc... !

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
I would like to improve in both competency 4 and 11. !
I would like to gain more experience in implementing and carrying out different classroom
management strategies. Since this was only a three week stage, I did not teach many lessons,
therefore I did not develop strategies of my own. I did not gain much experience in communicating
with the parents of the students. Although I did write to them in the students' agendas at times, I did
not have direct contact with the parents of my class.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:


For field experience three, we will be in the classroom from the beginning of the school year till
December. This will help us gain experience in implementing our own classroom management
techniques and routines, since they will be in the process of being developed at that time. Since I
will be teaching more, I will know my students better and communicate with their parents more
easily. We will have parent teacher interviews, and other opportunities to speak with parents and
develop this competency.
