PROCESS FILTERS

Vent

Scope and applications

Inlet
SIIRTEC NIGI Process Filters are designed to remove
efficiently solid impurities from liquid streams.
They are widely used for filtering fluids such as:
! Amine, Glycols, Sulfinols, Water Solutions;
! Engine Lube Oils and other Hydrocarbon Fluids.

Outlet How they work

The fluid to be filtered enters the upper chamber of the

vessel, passes through the filtering cartridges from
outside to inside, leaving the impurities in the filter
elements, flows in the lower chamber and exits through
the outlet nozzle.
Drain
Two process filters, with change-over valves and no by-
pass lines, should be installed in parallel to allow
continuous operation during cartridges change-out.
The filter elements should be changed when the pressure
drop reaches the stated maximum value.

Features

SIIRTEC NIGI Process Filters are manufactured generally in a vertical configuration.

They consist basically of:
a vessel structure, including a head welded at its lower end, complete with
supporting skirt and topped with a removable head (bolted or quick opening type)
served by a davit, for access to the cartridges;
internal parts including:
E-309/e(Rev.1)

one or more filter cartridges, arranged and fixed to a circular base plate by means
of appropriate pipe supports;
inlet/outlet nozzles and flanges, vent and drain connections, instrumentation
fittings.
Materials

SIIRTEC NIGI Process filter body is made generally of carbon steel, however other
materials can be used depending on the service. Internal coatings for special
applications can be also applied on request.
Filter cartridges can be chosen within a wide variety of SIIRTEC NIGI elements,
according to the required duty and filtration degree.

Design

SIIRTEC NIGI can provide a "tailor made" design for any type of Process Filter, for any
pressure and temperature, according to ASME Code or to any other national code.
Required design information:
Type and characteristics of the fluid to be handled;
Liquid flow rate and specific gravity;
Dimensions and quantity of particles to be filtered;
Required filtration degree;
Operating /design pressure and temperature;
Maximum allowable pressure drop across the units;
Design code;
Any other special requirement.

Nomenclature

The main data of each SIIRTEC NIGI Process Filter can be identified by a set of letters and
numbers as indicated below:

PF = Process Filter
Shell outside diameter, in inches
No. of cartridges
Cartridge model

PF 18 18 336
