Oleo-Pressure Monitoring System
The Oleo-Pressure Monitoring System application is hosted in the
CPIOM.
It monitors data from oleo-pressure and temperature sensors and sends
them via L/G Remote Data Concentrator (L/G RDC) to:
- the Onboard Maintenance System (OMS),
- the Flight Warning System (FWS),
- and the Cockpit and Display System (CDS).
The Oleo-Pressure Monitoring System is supplied by 28 VDC from DC
BUS 1, DC BUS 2 or DC ESSential BUS.
An oleo pressure gage and an oleo reference chart are installed on each
L/G.
The gage shows the actual oleo pressure of the related L/G, while the
oleo reference chart gives the shock absorber extension (H dimension)
versus temperature and oleo pressure.
On ground, correct L/G oleo pressure must be checked with respect to
reference chart.

Ground Door Opening
System Architecture
Ground Door Opening (GDO) is electrically controlled from GDO
levers.
On Body Landing Gear (BLG), when a GDO lever is operated, the
door bypass valve operates to release hydraulic pressure from door
actuators. Outer door uplocks are electrically released via electrical
motors operation.
Inner doors will be manually opened after removal of auxiliary doors.
The GDO system is supplied by:
- 28 VDC from DC ESSential BUS,
- or 24 VDC from external batteries.
The GDO panel has:
- a GDO lever with two release P/BSWs,
- and a connection for external electrical power,
A safety pin is installed on each GDO lever to avoid any inadvertent
operation.
On ground, GDO levers are also used to close Landing Gears (L/G)
doors. This operation requires electrical power and hydraulic pressure.

Free Fall System
The free fall system is controlled by two L/G GRaViTY switches located
on the main instrument panel. These switches are connected together
with a link.
The emergency operating sequence is controlled by a Free Fall Control
Module (FFCM).
During a free fall sequence, the cut out valves isolate L/G hydraulic
circuits from pressure and the vent valves operate to avoid hydraulic
locks.
FFCM also releases the gear and door uplocks by operating emergency
unlock actuators via electrical motors. Gears and doors open by gravity.
All BLG doors remain open after a free fall extension.
On ground, system reconfiguration requires:
- confirmation of GDO by setting the GDO levers in the open position,
- safety devices installation on all gears and doors,
- removal of auxiliary doors on BLG center and inner doors,
- manual folding of the center door,
- reset of the L/G GRVTY switches,
- removal of L/G doors safety devices,
- hydraulic system pressure,
- ground doors closing,
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM32DULEVEL0201

- and auxiliary doors installation.

WHEELS & BRAKING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (2)

System Architecture
WLG Braking System
The Wing Landing Gear (WLG) braking system has three operation
modes:
- normal,
- alternate,
- and emergency braking.
In normal mode, the WLG brake system is powered by the green
hydraulic system. Brake pressure is controlled by the brake control
system according to pedals, autobrake or in-flight braking orders.
Brake control system function is hosted in the CPIOM.
The alternate brake system is powered by a Local Electro-Hydraulic
Generation System (LEHGS) and a brake accumulator. Although
brake pressure is controlled by the brake control system, only pedals
braking and autobrake are available in this mode.
In case of an emergency braking, the Emergency Brake Control Unit
(EBCU) controls the brake pressure which is applied from pedals
orders only. Hydraulic supply is from LEHGS.
During maintenance action, a manually controlled pressure relief valve
lets relief the accumulator pressure.
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM32DTLEVEL0201

Hydraulic fuses are also installed on the brake hydraulic circuit to

prevent from an excessive fluid loss. After brake change, these fuses
may close if the bleed valve is opened at high flow.
The LEHGS reservoir servicing is an automatic function and does not
require any accumulator servicing.
CPIOM is powered by 28 VDC from DC BUS 1 or 2.
EBCU is powered by 28 VDC from DC ESSential BUS or DC HOT
BUS 1.
WLG LEHGS is powered by 115 VAC from AC BUS 3.

System Architecture (continued)
BLG Braking System
The Body Landing Gear (BLG) normal, alternate and emergency
modes have the same operations as WLG braking system.
Parking brake is only applied on BLG.
Yellow hydraulic power supplies the BLG braking hydraulic circuit.
For parking brake, there is one circuit for each BLG. A LEHGS
accumulator supplies alternate and parking brake circuit. This
accumulator gives 12 hours supply.
Parking brake system is powered by 28 VDC from GND service bus
or HOT BUS. It is available even if either A/C is powered or not.
On ground, the PARK BRAKE ON light, located on the NLG steering
disconnection box, shows the status of the parking brake system. This
light receives signal from parking brake selector valves.
The hydraulic pressure available to the system (from the accumulators)
and the brake pressure supplied to the BLG brakes are shown on a
triple pressure gage in the cockpit. This gage receives signal from the
EBCU and pressure transmitters.

BUS 1.
The parking brake selector valve is powered by 28 VDC from DC
GND SerViCe BUS or DC HOT BUS 1.
BLG LEHGS is powered by 115 VAC from AC BUS 2.

TPIS & BTMS
Tire Pressure Indicating System (TPIS) is hosted in the CPIOM.
Sensors monitor tire pressure values and send them to the CPIOM via
the Landing Gears Remote Data Concentrator (L/G RDC).
Then, tire pressure is shown on the ECAM WHEEL page.
Tire pressure correct values and deflation limitations are given in the
AMM. Incorrect values may lead to wheel replacement.
Brake Temperature Monitoring System is also hosted in the CPIOM.
Temperature sensors monitor brake temperature and transmit these values
to the CPIOM via the L/G RDC.
Brake temperatures are shown on the ECAM wheel page.
Green indications mean that brake temperature values are correct.
Amber indications mean that brakes are hot. In this case, the BraKe FAN
P/BSW must be switched ON if installed on the L/G panel.
Related warnings will be shown on the EWD.
The CPIOM is powered by 28 VDC from DC BUS 1 or 2.
The L/G RDC is powered by 28 VDC from DC BUS 2 or DC ESS BUS.

STEERING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (2)

N/WS
Nose Wheel Steering (N/WS) has two operation modes:
- the normal N/WS,
- and the alternate N/WS.
In normal mode, the N/WS system is powered by the green hydraulic
system.
The steering control system, which controls steering operation, is a
redundant CPIOM hosted application. This application receives the
steering orders from the rudder pedals, the autopilot, or handwheels.
Normal steering selector valve and the steering servo-metering valve are
operated to get the N/WS position.
In case of green hydraulic system low pressure, the alternate system uses
the hydraulic power from the Local Electro-Hydraulic Generation System
(LEHGS) and from the accumulator.
The steering control system controls, via CPIOMs, the alternate steering
selector valve.
In case of an overpressure, a pressure relief valve can be manually
operated to release pressure from the accumulator.
The LEHGS is composed of an independent reservoir and an internal
electrical motor pump. LEHGS reservoir servicing is an automatic
function and does not require any accumulator servicing.
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM32DSLEVEL0201

The alternate refilling valve is opened after engine start to replenish the
accumulator and LEHGS reservoir.
The CPIOM is powered by 28 VDC from DC BUS 1 or 2 and the Nose
Landing Gear (NLG) LEHGS is supplied by 115 VAC from AC BUS 3.
N/WS can be disconnected from NLG steering disconnection box. This
operation is required during A/C towing and will be done via a tow switch
and its related safety pin.
In this case, N/WS disconnection is indicated on the EWD.

STEERING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (2)

BLG Steering
The Body Landing Gear (BLG) steering system is powered from the
yellow hydraulic system.
Hydraulic pressure is from:
- engine driven pumps 3 or 4,
- or electric motor pumps.
The electric motor pumps are powered by 115 VAC from AC BUS 3 and
4.
The BLG steering is controlled and monitored by the steering control
system.
It is also function of NLG wheel position: BLG steering is only available
if NLG wheel position is more than 20.
On ground, when N/WS is disconnected, BLG steering requires electrical
and hydraulic powers to operate.
The CPIOMs drive the bay mounted selector valve, which controls yellow
hydraulic supply to both LH and RH BLG steering wheels. This valve
is used to inhibit hydraulic fluid.
Selector valves can isolate the servo-metering valves, which regulate
hydraulic pressure on steering actuators.
Lock selector valves operate the locking actuators, which allow or not
the steering of BLG rear axles.
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM32DSLEVEL0201

Selector valves, servo-metering valves and lock selector valves are

controlled from CPIOM via a Remote Data Concentrator (RDC).
Status of the BLG steering is available on the NLG disconnection box.
On ground, BLG steering can be isolated by installing a safety pin on a
wedge lock.
Human factor point:

WARNING: BLG steering wheels movement can cause injury to persons

near the BLG.
