Statement of the Problem

This study will focus in the Assessment of Flooding

and Water drainage System in Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N.

Samar.

Specifically, this study aims to answer the following

questions:

1. What is the present condition of water drainage

system in Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N. Samar?

2. What is the topography of the flooded area in

Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N. Samar?

Objectives of the Study

The main objective of this study is the Assessment of

Flooding and Water drainage System in Brgy. Old Rizal,

Catarman N. Samar.

Specifically, this study aims to:

1. Determine the present condition of water drainage

system in Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N. Samar.

2. Determine the topography of the flooded area in

Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N. Samar.

Significance of the Study:

This study on the Assessment of Flooding and Water

drainage System in Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman N. Samar will

be beneficial to the following

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING this study will give

opportunity to the College of Engineering to

contribute to the residence of Brgy. Old Rizal the

resolution of flood issue and other concerns in water

drainage system development.

CE STUDENTS they will have the opportunity to apply

their knowledge and exercise what they have learned

in school.

FUTURE RESEARCHER this will provide data and will

serve as their guide for further research.

Scope and Limitations

Definition of terms

The following terms used in this paper are defined

for clear understanding of this research study:

Assessment - the evaluation or estimation of the

nature, quality, or ability of someone or something.

Flood - an overflowing of a large amount of water

beyond its normal confines, especially over what is

normally dry land.

Water - the liquid which forms the seas, lakes,

rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of

living organisms.

Drainage the natural or artificial removal of

surface and sub-surface water from an area

System a set of principles or procedures according

to which something is done.

- an organized scheme or method.

Drainage System a system of watercourses or drains

for carrying off excess water.

Brgy. Old Rizal - one of the barangays which are in

the outlying area of Municipality Catarman.

Area - a region or part of a town, a country, or the

world.

Topography - the arrangement of the natural and

artificial physical features of an area.
