and our communities. We must perform our jobs admirably, giving our best service and support
every day, in order to watch students succeed. We provide educational opportunities for those
who might otherwise not have them including organizing team activities. Our teamwork is
founded upon people bringing different gifts and perspectives. In the principles of integrity,
opportunity and fairness. We must prepare our students to be successful in a global environment.

Intramural Sport Programs provide students, faculty and staff with the opportunity to participate
in a variety of competitive recreational sports in a safe environment; to promote and provide
quality service, facilities and equipment; to facilitate the opportunity for enjoyable experiences;
to develop worthwhile use of leisure; and to create opportunities for the growth and development
of all stakeholders. The intramural program at Jackson College gives students the opportunity to
be competitive and have fun without the demands of being involved in a varsity sport.

Learning Outcomes and Assessment Plan

Intramural Sports: There are several outcomes we hope students learn by participating in
sports. They could learn to communicate with each other, and the physical aspect of playing a
game promotes health and wellness to all students. There are also opportunities for students to
officiate games, by doing so students also learn leadership skills.

When assessing an Intramural Sports event, we must look at the number of students who
participated and the format to which the competition took place.
Flag Football: This fall we hosted a Flag Football Tournament. It took place on a Friday
afternoon, and we had 50+ students play on five teams. There were another 10 students who
participated as officials and scorekeepers.

communication and teamwork.

Learning Outcome #2: Students who worked as officials and scorekeepers understand when and
how to take ownership of a situation.

Assessment: Students reflected on what they thought went well and what needed improvement
through meetings with staff.

Student Organizations: Students are able to develop their own organizations. By creating
and/or holding a position within an organization, students learn leadership and communication
skills. Any student who participates in an organization is learning how to be involved in his/her
campus community.

We look at how many students are participating in an organization, how often the organization
meets and what activities the organization is developing and/ or participating in on campus.

Christian Student Club: They developed a Substance Abuse Awareness night where five
community members who were affected by substance abuse, either in recovery or through losing
a loved one spoke to students about the dangers of drug and alcohol use.

Learning Outcome: Students who attend Substance Abuse Awareness Night are more aware of
the dangers brought on by substance use.

Assessment: The Student Life Coordinator had meeting with the Conduct Office and the
Christian Student Club president.

Student Life Activities: We want to provide activities that are inviting to all types of students.
Having students from different walks of life join together promotes an accepting, supportive,
collaborative environment amongst the student population.

Midnight Madness: In order to make sure we are serving the students, we allow them to be a
part of the organization of activities. There was a event where Student Life Aids organized a
powerpoint presentation introducing the basketball players, they asked organizations (Cheer &
Dance teams) to participate and scheduled the order of what was to happen. This event was open
to all Jackson College students, and the Jackson Community.

Learning Outcome #1: Students who participated in the organization of Midnight Madness
learned what steps are needed to organize a large event.

Learning Outcome #2: Those who attended the event experienced a sense of community amongst
Jackson College students & staff.
